No Man’s Sky Was A Mistake?

No Man’s Sky Developer Hello Games twitter account was alleged hacked. Hello Games, studio behind No man’s sky tweeted “No Man’s Sky was a mistake”. These tweet seem to have come from a fed up employee. Some followers noted that this tweet was posted via Sean’s Murray’s account. Shortly then Hello Games account was sent to private and now it accessible publicly. When people asked to comment about “mistake” tweet, a representative from Hello Games told Forbes via email that “a disgruntled employee” wrote it and the studio was currently trying to sort the issue. Sean Murray’ then posted on Twitter saying that the  “server was hacked” and that “if anything was a mistake, it was using LinkedIn without [two-factor authentication]” If anything was a mistake, it was ...

No Man’s Sky Under Investigation By The ASA

You might think that after the whole fiasco, we’d be finally moving on from No Man’s Sky. But the problems for Hello Games don’t seem to be over. In latest news, UK’s Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) will be investigating the game’s allegedly misleading promotions. The ASA is an independent regulator whose role is to regulate the content of advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing in the UK by investigating complaints made about ads, sales promotions or direct marketing. After numerous complaints about the game’s false advertising, disappointing gameplay and lack of multiplayer, Reddi user AzzerUK filed a formal complaint with the ASA as they feel the game’s advertising is ultimately misleading when compared to the features found in ...

Steam Reiterates Its Refund Policy Regarding No Man’s Sky

After a Reddit post claiming that Steam was offering refunds for No Man’s Sky irrespective of playtime went up, people were quick to take notice. The post became widely popular, going to to become on of the most upvoted posts on the site, and while it is technically not false, it is misleading. Yes, it is possible to get a refund on No Man’s Sky irrespective of the fact whether you’ve played it for 1 hour or 100, Valve hasn’t exactly made an exception to its automatic refund policy for the game, and thanks to the huge number of players asking for a refund, there’s now a PSA on the No Man’s Sky store page to make things clear. As the official policy, a game will be refunded by Valve as long as “the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the...

Destiny Design Talks About Procedural Generation, Takes A Jab At No Man’s Sky

For those of you who hadn’t noticed yet, Destiny and No Man’s Sky seem to have a lot more in common than just the sci-fi theme and space travel. No Man’s Sky UI design is questionably similar to the one used in Destiny, including the menu items and upgrade tree. In an interview with Metro, Destiny’s Lead Designer Steve Cotton opens up about No Man’s Sky when asked about procedural generation. The UI similarities had obviously gone unnoticed at Bungie, as Cotton humorously implied that No Man’s Sky had copied the UI design from Destiny.  He also gave a more serious take on procedural generation, and why Bungie chooses not to go that route. When asked about open world designs, this is what he has to say, “That’s a really good question. We talk about ...

Sony, Steam And Amazon Offering Refunds On No Man’s Sky Irrespective Of Playtime

For most of the people, No Man’s Sky has been nothing but one disappointment after another. Allegedly, it is nowhere close to what Hello Games had promised. Needless to say, it was a huge letdown. Amazon, Sony (through the PSN) and Steam, all seem to agree on this viewpoint. Hence, they have started refunding the digital copies of the game regardless of how long you’ve spent playing the game. “You can do this with practically anything on Steam so long as you are not abusing the system,” posted NeoGaf user Nzyme32. “I assume they have some internal criteria for all this in coming to a decision as to whether you can get a refund when outside the normal refund criteria. I managed to get a refund on Volume & Homeworld Remastered (which I have since repurchased...

Here’s What The Latest No Man’s Sky Patch Is All About

No Man’s Sky, the highly anticipated and to some extent unsuccessful space exploration and survival title by indie game studio Hello Games is under constant criticism for the botched experience and gameplay elements. The developers seem to be working hard to resolve most of the issues, but fans are disappointed with the problems existing in the first place, considering the game had been delayed numerous times already. The title received its third patch recently, aimed at addressing the common issues players were facing. Top on the priority list were fixing the save system, decreasing the possibility of being stranded, and quite a few bug fixes. Hello Games claims that this patch should fix about 70% of the complaints that the players had at the time of release. Space Stations Prior t...

No Man’s Sky: Sales Drop by 81% in the UK

At its launch, No Man’s Sky seemed to have hit the pinnacle of success, with it being the second biggest PS 4 launch ever, and topping the sales charts on Steam. Considering that the game was made by a small team from an indie studio, this could be said to be an amazing feat for Hello Games. However, the game seems to have hit a bump as sales plummet, falling by 81%in the UK, according to GfK Chart Track, which tracks sales of video games in the UK. This doesn’t come as a surprise, considering all the controversies surrounding the game and the developers. Fans have been constantly disappointed with the lack of multiplayer and story elements. And though the game offers you a lot of options and freedom, it seems to  fall short of players’ expectations. And with all the issu...

This Is How The “Multiplayer” In No Man’s Sky Works, And Why You Won’t See Anyone

People are speculating about how multiplayer would work in No Man’s Sky, and while developer Sean Murray has confirmed that the game does not have a multiplayer mode as such, and the chances of meeting other players are close to zero, it hasn’t stopped them from testing it out. As covered in a previous post, two players coordinated with each other in an attempt to meet in the large universe of No Man’s Sky, and even though they managed to reach the same place, they weren’t able to see each other. This is has raised some issues with fans’ expectations from the game, but here’s why it might not be possible to run into someone else when you’re out in the galaxy exploring. The two players, even when playing at the same time, may have their own instance...

Other Players Not Visible In No Man’s Sky, No Multiplayer

The highly anticipated space exploration survival title No Man’s Sky is out for the Playstation 4, with only two days to go for the PC release. Possibly on a successful attempt to break the internet, the game seems to have been received well. The game was always thought to have a multiplayer experience as well, with the ability to meet other players, though developer Sean Muray had said that the chances of meeting another player were close to zero. To put this theory to test, Reddit user TheGalacticCactus partnered up with another player, both of them streaming their gameplays to Twitch at the same time. Here’s the result: Despite being at the same location, they were unable to see each other at all, as you can see in the screenshot below. Both the players were at the same loca...

No Man’s Sky Day 1 Patch, Gameplay Updates and Balances

Only one day to go for the release of what can only be said to be the most anticipated game of this year. The wait gets over tomorrow, and you can finally get your hands on No Man’s Sky, well, considering you’re not playing on the PC, because then you’ll have to wait till the 12th. However, the indie studio Hello Games seems to be hard at work to update the game and they’re ready with the first update 1.03. The update will be needed after you install the game in order to be able to play it. The players who were able to get their hands on an early copy of the game can still play it without updating, but will not have access to the new content and changes in update 1.03 without deleting the save file of their pre-update game. Hello Games says it’s necessary beca...

PS Plus Not Required To Play No Man’s Sky Online

No Man’s Sky sure can’t seem to get enough time in the news.  After being the target of a “stupid” lawsuit and multiple life threatening delays (literally), the game finally went gold this month. And even after that there was a claim where Hello Games was accused of a patent formula theft. However, fans continue to jump in joy as the game nears its August release. One big question that surrounded No Man’s Sky and its 18 tetra-hexa-zillion (who knows how many?) planets was that whether the game would have an online component, and whether the PS Plus Subscription would be needed to access it. It’s been known for a while that the game can easily be played offline as the vast world is not generated on server side, but in the game itself, but online access wi...
