Middle Earth: Shadow of War Release Date Announced, Watch The Trailer Now

Soon after the game was leaked recently, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the release date for Middle Earth: Shadow of War, along with the announcement trailer.

Shadow of War will feature the return of Talion and Cerebrimbor  as the Blight Lord, on a quest to infiltrate the armies of Mordor and turn them against Sauron, the Dark Lord. The game will also expand on the Nemesis System introduced in Shadow of Mordor.  According to the press release, the Nemesis System will now be applied to the entire world, and player actions will shape the environments and characters, resulting in an experience unique to each player. There will be something known as the Nemesis Fortresses, allowing the player to conquer strongholds using their own Orc armies.

The game is going to be release in 4 different versions: Standard, Silver, Gold and Mithril. Pricing for these version is yet to be listed. However, the details of what these versions contain are given:

  • On pre-ordering the Standard Edition, you get a legendary Champions War Part and the exclusive Sword of Dominion.
  • The Silver Edition includes the Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion, Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion and a Silver War Chest, which is said to cost around $90. The expansions themselves include a new Orc tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, Fortress and a Mythic Gear Set.
  • The Gold Edition expands on the Silver Edition, adding The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion, The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion and replacing the Silver War Chest with a Gold one, and is speculated to cost more than $125. The story expansions feature a new campaign, playable characters and abilities, side missions and more.
  • The Mithril Edition, the granddaddy of all, includes everything in the Silver and the Gold Editions, and comes with a limited edition 15-inch Tar-Goroth Balrog VS Carnan Drake statue, exclusive lithographs, premium case with a magnetic Ring of Power, exclusive steelcase, official soundtrack, cloth map of Mordor, Tribes sticker pack and a Mithril War Chest. According to the studio, this will be worth more than $350.

Shadow of War is set to release for the Windows PC, Xbox One, Project Scorpio, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro on 22nd August. The gameplay reveal will take place on 8th March.
