According to a report by Bloomberg, Razer is interested in making a smartphone for gamers. Earlier this year, Razer had acquired the smartphone company Nextbit, so this news doesn’t come as a surprise. The company is planning an IPO in Hong Kong, potentially valuing its business at USD 5 billion. Some of the funds will be directed by Razer towards the development of its smartphone. At the time of the acquisition, Razer had said that Nexbit would function as an independent entity, but we can’t be sure whether the new phone will launch under the Razer or the Nextbit name. There’s also a question of price and feasibility, considering that the performance and hardware of a gamer specific smartphone would need to be better than the average consumer smartphone. All these issues...

I’d like to start of by apologizing for not writing the monthly upcoming mobile games article for February. As most of you know we were caught up with India Game Show and were running on a tight schedule. Though it is kinda late for an upcoming game article, thought I’d make this one a round up sort of article instead. Batman: Arkham Underworld This game has been around for a while now, but only recently made it’s way onto android devices. In this game you strategically set up defences making infiltration difficult for attackers. Each base is headed by a villain of your choosing, which adds to the defence strategy of the base. As you might have figured out by now, the game is more of a strategy based one and that you play as the villains to try take control over Gotham. P...
Just about six months ago I was staying in the YMCA boys hostel in Bombay. As you would imagine, gaming was a huge deal with the guys. At night you would have guys all move up to the third floor and pull off all-nighters playing some of their favorite games. While there were hardcore PC gamers, there were also a bunch of us who played games on our phones. Bomb Squad was one such game take we could play at any time during the day, be it in our rooms or even in the mess, just whip out your phone and set up a local game for everybody to join. However, off late there is another game that takes the multiplayer prize. Mini Militia is the new game on the block that has gamers glued to their phone screens. The game is best described as the lovechild of teeworlds and Counter-Strike. From the outset...
There are times when you resolve to study, even if they come rarely. You sit in class with note-taking paraphernalia ready for action and you might even write down a word or two. But soon, as the class progresses, you start thinking about that new game you want to play or the pizza you had last night and fall into a reverie. You realize with a start that you intended on studying this semester and glance up at the board to find an entirely new set of symbols which barely make sense to you. At this point, you have two options. Either you make a miserable attempt at trying to study again, or whip out your phone, grab a similarly disenchanted classmate and try out these games we’ve got for you! 1. Through the Fog Through the wall is an endless runner which is a lot of fun to play on your own b...
