While, for the most part, video game critics voice an opinion that is resonant with that of the general audience, there is sometimes a stark divide between what they feel about the game and how an average gamer feels about the game. [interaction id=”5963780bf7ddd65e0bce104e”] Final Fantasy XV Even after a long development cycle and major improvements in gameplay and visuals, the overall final experience was ultimately disappointing. While individual battles and encounters were enjoyable, the game never delivered the sense of epic wonder and magic that Final Fantasy games usually do. Metal Gear Solid V The first hour of Metal Gear Solid V was pure Kojima madness, and I really...

Here are the best shooters from 2016 that you absolutely must play: Overwatch Release Date: 23rd May, 2016 Platforms: Windows PC, PS4, XBONE While it can be put simply as Team Fortress with waifus, Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch is absolutely fantastic. Blizzard keeps it simple, giving you just a few modes and maps, but gives you a range of characters with unique abilities and playstyles. It’s easy to ge...

Destiny Design Talks About Procedural Generation, Takes A Jab At No Man’s Sky

For those of you who hadn’t noticed yet, Destiny and No Man’s Sky seem to have a lot more in common than just the sci-fi theme and space travel. No Man’s Sky UI design is questionably similar to the one used in Destiny, including the menu items and upgrade tree. In an interview with Metro, Destiny’s Lead Designer Steve Cotton opens up about No Man’s Sky when asked about procedural generation. The UI similarities had obviously gone unnoticed at Bungie, as Cotton humorously implied that No Man’s Sky had copied the UI design from Destiny.  He also gave a more serious take on procedural generation, and why Bungie chooses not to go that route. When asked about open world designs, this is what he has to say, “That’s a really good question. We talk about ...

Mass Effect Andromeda Lead Writer Leaves To Work On Destiny

The Bioware team developing the next Mass Effect game, Mass Effect Andromeda has lost yet another core member from their team, this time being their lead writer, Chris Schlerf. As confirmed on Twitter by Schlerf, he left Bioware to join Bungie, the team developing Destiny. He had been with Bioware for almost two years before which hee worked at 343 Industries on Halo 4, who are the same folks working on Destiny. Schlerf’s LinkedIn page contains some possible hints about Andromeda, which he described in his tweets as a game that will “blow people away,”. A few months ago, near the end of 2015, another high-ranking Andromeda developer, senior producer Chris Wynn, left BioWare. He has since joined H1Z1 developer Daybreak Games. Does this bode ill for the upcoming Mass Effect...

Winners Of The Game Awards 2015

Appearing first at the Spike Video Game Awards, the Geof Keighley produced video game accolades show has taken on many different iterations. Now it exists as an online streaming only live event dubbed simply The Game Awards, and without any of the “riff raff,” the hope is that the winners will all be fitting releases. This year, competition was plenty heated between a handful of games, many of which were years in the making. Fallout 4 was the clear favorite to win any and every award heading into the end of 2015, but games like The Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid 5 were not going to go out quietly. And in the end, it wasn’t Bethesda and Fallout 4, but rather CD Projekt Red and The Witcher 3 that came away the big winners. The ambitious RPG experience clearly took the judges by storm and was...

Destiny Offering Microtransactions

On Oct. 13 Bungie will add “The Eververse” a new storefront including 18 emotes, all being completely optional. The currency you will buy these emotes with will be called “Silver” which will be able for purchase through your consoles associated store. Bungie will give you some free Silver to buy a few new emotes, and other than that they plan to “bolster the service our live team is offering for another full year”. AKA Microtransactions, though they are optional, it still sucks to see another game fall into this trend. The fact that some of us have paid $140 (approx. Rs. 10k) for this game and they expect to charge us more for content is obscene. This seems like a gateway for something much, much worse. Like exclusives guns, armor, game modes, etc. For m...

Showcase: Destiny’s the Taken King Special Edition PS4

Sony showcased a new custom PS4 to go with Destiny’s The Taken King expansion, and it is one of the best looking skins for the console yet, as good looking (or even better, maybe) than the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain bundle. The bundle contains the custom PS4, a glacier white Dualshock 4, a physical copy of Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition, which includes Destiny, Expansions I and II, and The Taken King, along with the custom emotes that the Legendary Edition comes with, which Activision is also selling for $20 as a standalone package.   A package this gorgeous for the expansion makes the original Destiny bundle look plain, doesn’t it?

Fumito Ueda is back at the helm, after leaving Sony to found his own studio. The game has a 2016 launch window. Horizon: Zero Dawn, being developed by Guerilla of Killzone fame was also revealed. It’s a Man v/s Dinosaurs game set way after an apocalypse, except the dinosaurs are actually sentient robots. The game plays as a semi-s...

Destiny Makes $325 Million In Sales, But Has Mediocre Ratings

Destiny, the epic space opera, first person shooter, part massive onli….heck! You know what I’m talking about. Destiny sold $325 million worth of games in just five days since its launch, said Activision on Wednesday. That figure represents the number of copies that already exists in consumers hands, and is the biggest ever for the launch of a new gaming intellectual property. But the game itself hasn’t had the best review and hasn’t lived up to its hype. Even though the game was a victim of oversized expectations, it did not remain stuck in the shelves.   The record still remains unbroken with Rockstar’s GTA V as the fastest selling game of all time. In fact it does not stack up to the yearly Call of Duty first-person shooter titles, however Destiny is judged as a brand new intellect...
