E3 2017 Highlights: EA Press Conference

E3 2017 Highlights: EA Press Conference

E3 kicked off this year with the EA Press Conference and boy did they like to tell and not show. They spent so long talking that people were genuinely upset and just wanted to see the games, so lo and behold, a highlight of the EA Press Conference.

Need For Speed: Payback

This game was previously announced but we were only shown a short trailer. At their press conference, we got to have a better look at the game and its mechanics.  From what we’ve learned, the game will feature 3 playable characters with different skills and the game will also feature a day and night cycle. No more perpetual racing in the darkness. The game also has an offline story mode unlike the “Need for Speed” 2015 reboot. The gameplay they showcased was action packed and had a very “Fast and Furious” feel to it. The last time they went “Fast and Furious” was the Underground series and still is revered so here’s hoping we see them get back to form with Payback.

Anthem

Bioware’s new IP that was code named “Dylan” is officially announced as Anthem, an open world Action Adventure Co-op game where you and your buddies can explore a huge world and complete missions in an exoskeleton known as Javelins that are supposed to be highly customizable. The environment looked gorgeous with lush green forests and deep blue lakes that were teeming with wildlife.

Battlefront II

Battlefront II was also previously announced but not much details were given out about the game.  It features a single player campaign, characters and locations from the prequel and sequel trilogies,  and classes in multiplayer with heroes like Darth Maul, Rey, Finn etc. The story revolves around a squad that is part of the Empire and takes place after the fall of the 2nd Death Star. Also, in a move that is very unlike themselves, EA has announced that all the DLC for the game will be free and that there will be no Season Pass.

Battlefield 1 DLC “In The Name of Tsar”

Battlefield 1’s first expansion DLC “In The Name of Tsar” will include six new maps as well as new vehicles, a new mode called Supply Drop, and 11 new weapons. You’ll play as the Russian Army, including the Women’s Battalion of Death, which is the first time in series history that will offer a playable female character. They also stated that Battlefield 1 would be introducing a “more competitive experience” but more details about that will be given out at Gamescom.

A Way Out

A co-op adventure prison break game by the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is EAs newest IP. It can only be played in splitscreen and both players have their individual stories so even if one character is in a cutscene, the other can still play.  It is a very interesting concept and looks exciting.

FIFA 18

The latest in the FIFA series, FIFA 18 has a release date of September 29th 2017. The biggest step in gameplay innovation in franchise history, FIFA 18 introduces Real Player Motion Technology, an all-new animation system which unlocks a new level of responsiveness, and player personality – now Cristiano Ronaldo and other top players feel and move exactly like they do on the real pitch. Player Control combined with new Team Styles and Positioning give you the tools to deliver Dramatic Moments that ignite Immersive Atmospheres around the world. “The Journey” single player story mode also makes a return with character Alex Hunter also returning.

Madden NFL 18

Powered by Frostbite, Longshot is Madden NFL’s first-ever cinematic and playable story mode where your decisions lead forgotten prospect, Devin Wade on the pursuit to hear his name called on NFL Draft day. This is the first time in the series’ history that it’ll feature a single player story mode. Madden NFL 18 launches 25th August 2017.

NBA Live 18

Pursue your basketball legacy. Get a first look at The One from The League to The Streets. NBA Live 18 features a brand new story mode where you have to choose between The Streets or The League. It also seeks to bring back the “magic”. A demo for “The One” will be available in August 2017.

EA/ Origin Access Free Week Starts Now

During EA’s E3 briefing, CEO Andrew Wilson appeared on stage to announce that the company is providing free access to the EA Access and Origin Access Vaults for a week. That means you can play select games in their entirety without paying a penny. PC and Xbox users will be getting access to the Ea Access and Origin Access vaults while Playstation users will have free trials for it’s game for the whole week.
