EA May Just Have Killed All The Hype For Anthem, At Least For Me

Let’s face it, EA’s actions this year have been nothing but one disappointment after another for gamers everyhwere. From shutting down great studios to implementing highly questionable mechanics in their games, they have done everything to ensure they become one of the most hated companies in the gaming industry. In fact, their response to the Star Wars Battlefront II loot box debacle is the most downvoted post on Reddit! What makes it worse it that once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, some of the best titles to come out were published under the banner of EA. And they seem have thrown all of it away, just for one thing – profits. It seems like EA plans to stop at nothing when it comes to sucking the wallets of their customers. So much so, that they’ve actu...

EA Removes Microtransactions From Star Wars Battlefront II….Temporarily

Looks like the voice of the community is finally getting to the corporate overlords at Electronic Arts. After facing severe backlash for the fundamentally “pay-to-win-” progression system, the company has disabled the purchase of crystals, the in-game currency for Star Wars Battlefront II. Here’s the official statement. “As we approach the worldwide launch, it’s clear that many of you feel there are still challenges in the design. We’ve heard the concerns about potentially giving players unfair advantages. And we’ve heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game. This was never our intention. Sorry we didn’t get this right. We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing an...

EA Acquires Titanfall Studio Respawn Entertainment

Electronic Arts announced today an agreement to acquire Respawn Entertainment, a leading independent game development studio and creators of AAA shooter and action games including the critically-acclaimed Titanfall franchise. Respawn brings to EA the proven leadership and studio talent behind Titanfall and Titanfall 2, two of the most highly-rated shooter titles in the last five years. The acquisition builds on a successful publishing partnership between Respawn and EA, with multiple projects currently in development – a new title in the Titanfall franchise, a game set in the Star Wars universe and a VR gaming experience. “We’ve seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent and an inspiring creative mindset,&...

EA Doesn’t Care About What Players Want: Mass Effect Developer

In a recent interview with Waypoint Radio, Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay designer Manveer Heir may have revealed EA’s thought process regarding game development. Following the shutdown of Visceral Games, who were working on a new Star Wars title, EA has been under fire from fans and media alike, and the interview doesn’t speak very highly of them either. Veer talks about why Andromeda was an open world game. “It’s definitely a thing inside of EA,” he said, “they are generally pushing for more open-world games. And the reason is you can monetise them better. The words in there that were used are ‘have them come back again and again’. Why do you care about that at EA? The reason you care about that is because micro-transactions: buying card packs i...

EA Got Back The Only Guy Who Can Redeem Mass Effect, Dragon Age And Has Me Excited For Anthem

In 2014 Casey Hudson had left Bioware to pursue some personal projects saying that he wanted – “some time off, needed a bit of change, and wanted to get involved in the new wave of emerging, disruptive technologies.”. After having revolutionized the RPG genre with franchises like KOTOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, his departure was a loss of Bioware and it showed in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Fans of Bioware were unsure of what the studio’s future looked like, and even with all the positive buzz around Anthem, I was skeptical. [interaction id=”5971bc815ef522b21624db04″] However, just yesterday news came of Casey Hudson returning as General Manager at Bioware, and Aaryn Flynn stepping down. He announced his return saying: “The last few years ...

The Top 7 Most Disappointing Announcements At E3 2017

We covered the top showings at E3 2017 and now we’re covering the disappointments from E3. This is all based on my personal opinion, which will differ from yours so please, don’t come at me with your pitchforks. Nintendo Metroid Prime 4 Nintendo had a pretty great conference, probably the best conference this year so choosing a disappointing announcement was kinda hard. This was extreme nitpicking but they announced Metroid Prime 4 with what was essentially a gif of the title of the game. It hyped everyone up for sure but then we have nothing else, no images or screenshots or alpha footage or anything. Sony Monsters of the Deep Okay, what? No seriously, why even announce this? A Final Fantasy Fishing game for the VR because apparently, people’s fantasy is to fish. Microso...

E3 2017 Highlights: EA Press Conference

E3 kicked off this year with the EA Press Conference and boy did they like to tell and not show. They spent so long talking that people were genuinely upset and just wanted to see the games, so lo and behold, a highlight of the EA Press Conference. Need For Speed: Payback This game was previously announced but we were only shown a short trailer. At their press conference, we got to have a better look at the game and its mechanics.  From what we’ve learned, the game will feature 3 playable characters with different skills and the game will also feature a day and night cycle. No more perpetual racing in the darkness. The game also has an offline story mode unlike the “Need for Speed” 2015 reboot. The gameplay they showcased was action packed and had a very “Fast and F...
