E3 2017 Highlights: Microsoft Press Conference

With so many expectations for Project Scorpio and people watching to see how Microsoft plan on going toe to toe with Sony again, Microsoft did not disappoint. Their whole conference was packed from start to end and they had a lot of things to announce. So here are the highlights from the Microsoft Press Conference.

Xbox One X

Project Scorpio finally got revealed it is called Xbox One X. They released a world premiere trailer alongside a bunch of impressive details about it. The Release date of One X is 7th November 2017 and it’ll cost $499.  They also announced backward compatibility for the original Xbox titles and that over 40 pre-existing titles will get the One X update to support 4k.

Forza Motorsport 7

Microsoft showcased Forza Motorsport 7 on the newly released Xbox One X and it was gorgeous. Running at 4k 60fps, the series has never looked this good before, especially on a console. Forza Motorsport 7 has a release date of 3rd October on PC and Xbox One with a “holiday 2017” for the One X.

Metro Exodus

The sequel to Metro: Last Light was also revealed. The game seems to be an open world game that will release for all current-gen consoles and PC. The game looks absolutely stunning and has a release date of sometime in 2018.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Nobody really expected Assassin’s Creed to be revealed and shown at Microsoft’s Press Conference but it was a very pleasant surprise. The information from Game Informer seems to be true with no minimap and a Skyrim like compass. The game itself looks phenomenal with combat that looks very similar to Witcher 3’s combat.  Assassin’s Creed Origins will be available on 27th October.

Deep Rock Galactic

From the publishers who made the Goat Simulator game comes another fun title for the Xbox. Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op first person shooter game that features 4 bad ass space dwarves.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

The current fad for PC Gamers, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has officially been announced for Xbox One with a release date for late 2017.

State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 gameplay was shown and showcases it to be bigger and better than the previous installment. Not much was revealed besides the release being in Spring 2018.

Minecraft Cross Play

Minecraft finally supports crossplay between all platforms which is pretty great. They also showcased a Super Duper Graphics pack which seems to be a little bit of ENB and better textures for the consoles and, 4K for the Xbox One X.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

This 3v3 2D Dragon Ball Fighting game is being made by Arc System Works, the same devs who made Guilty Gear so look forward to a very good fighting game that is coming in early 2018.

The Darwin Project

The Darwin Project is reinventing the battle royale sub-genre. It challenges players to survive the cold and fight to the death in a treacherous, snow-covered arena. In the Darwin Project the environment is as dangerous as the players themselves.

Black Desert

Black Desert is a sandbox oriented MMO featuring next-gen graphics, full action combat and an immense seamless world full of adventure and danger. Travel through the lands in search of treasure and adventure or become one of the top craftsmen in the land. Set up trade routes and breed horses or compete against other guilds in epic siege warfare.

The Last Night

The Last Night lets you explore a two-dimensional cyberpunk open world, built with four unique districts each with distinct architecture, cultures and industries.  Experience action and infiltration gameplay in the great tradition of cinematic platformers and travel between districts using taxis, ferries, or monorail while trying to keep a low profile and remain undetected.  Meet a diverse, inclusive cast of complex characters to interact with through meaningful, branching dialogue and enjoy varied gameplay such as driving down epic highways, flying drones, and hacking droids to do your dirty work.

The Artful Escape

The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti is a video game about great expectations, famous folk singers, lingering shadows, space Gods, hallucinogens, individuality, reptile shops, and wild imaginations. It’s an action, adventure, exploration, narrative driven, musical-laser-light-battle kind of game and is the debut of release from Beethoven & Dinosaur.

Code Vein

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. Tacoma

Discovery. Exploration. Isolation. What is life like 200,000 miles from Earth? Uncover the mysteries held by Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma and its crew, living at the edge of humanity’s reach. Tacoma, the next game from the creators of Gone Home. It releases on 2nd August 2017.

Cuphead

The all-cartoon Magical Wondergame! Cuphead will be available on September 29th for Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam!

ID @ Xbox

The ID @ Xbox sizzle reel showed off a ton of indie games: Osiris: New Dawn, Paladins: Champions of the Realm, Raiders of the Broken Planet, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Unruly Heroes, Fortnite, Battlerite, Surviving Mars, Fable Fortune, Observer, Robocraft Infinity, Dunk Lords, Minion Masters, Brawlout, Ooblets, Dark and Light, Strange Brigade, Riverbond, Hello Neighbor, Shift, and Conan Exiles.

Ashen

Ashen is an action role-playing game is about a wanderer in search of a place to call home. There is no sun, and the only natural light comes from eruptions that cover the land in ash. This is a world where nothing lasts, no matter how tightly you cling to it. At its core, Ashen is about forging relationships. Players can guide those they trust to their camp — together, you might just stand a chance.

Life Is Strange: Before The Storm

The Prequel to Life is Strange is going to be in 3 parts. The first episode comes out on 31st August.

Super Lucky’s Tale Leaves

“Super Lucky’s Tale” is a playground platformer for all ages. Join Lucky, the ever-optimistic, energetic, and lovable hero on his quest to find his inner strength and help his beloved sister rescue the Book of Ages from Jinx. Jinx, the scheming and mysterious villain, is trying to reshape the world…but for what reason?  Coming November 7, 2017.

Sea of Thieves

Crackdown 3

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

We have Shadow of War gameplay footage and boy, it looks great. Orcs look even better than before and the combat is still fluid.

That does it for Microsoft’s Press Conference which had a lot of games! One of the surprises was to see Assassin’s Creed being showcased by Microsoft and not Ubisoft. Let us know what you thought about Microsoft’s conference and stay tuned for more highlights.
