Ok Gamers you can have your war about which console is better but Sony is here with it’s flagship gaming device the PS4 in India. Sony has pipped rival Microsoft by bringing its latest gaming console, the PlayStation 4, to the Indian market. There are many reasons to buy the console, which will be available from January 6 next year. An awesome gaming experience tops that list. But with a standalone tag of Rs 39,990, price is certainly not one of them. During the launch, Sony PlayStation’s country head Atindriya Bose blamed taxes in India for the premium. The console costs $400 (Rs 25,000) in the US, Eur 400 (Rs 35,000) in Europe, SGD 639 (Rs 32,000) in Singapore and HKD 3,380 (Rs 27,000) in Hong Kong. As strange as this sounds, the PS4 is most like to not support playback of 3D Blu-rays, according to the online user guide (spotted by TheSixthAxis). Even though DVDs and Blu-rays are fully supported and CD support is to be put into the system, the “Playing video on disc” section of the User Guide says that 3D Blu-rays are not supported. Weirdly enough, the PS3 plays 3D Blu-rays without any issues, which makes this even more strange. Sony has left 3D by the wayside in the past two years, having attempted to push it hard in the middle years of PS3’s lifespan. This would appear to be another nail in its coffin. However, the word around is that Sony has made it clear that 3D Blu-ray movies “will not be compatible at launch, providing the following statement to Eurogam...
Now that GTA 5 has launched, could an announcement for Red dead redemption be on cards. The rumors have started with a listing on the LinkedIn profile of Rockstar New England employee Doron Feinstein, which mentions the “next version of a famous IP”, in development since at least September 2010. Could John or Jack Marston be getting ready to ride again? One small and decidedly vague sentence isn’t much to go on, granted, but when it’s combined with various other bits and bobs gleaned over the last year or more, it certainly begins to look like a Red Dead Redemption sequel isn’t a case of if, but of when. First off, Rockstar began hiring for a next generation console project way back at the start of 2012, long before the Xbox One had been revealed and way bef...
Sony have declared that the PlayStation 4 controllers will be compatible with “basic features” with PC at launch. On Twitter a couple of days ago, Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida said that the DualShock 4 “analog sticks and buttons will work just fine.” But, he didn’t happen to mention whether any support will be necessary to facilitate the compatibility. The PlayStation 3 controllers require third-party support in order to function. Although unlikely, nothing was said about whether the DualShock 4’s new features –– including a light bar, touch pad, and motion controls –– will function on Windows PCs, while several PlayStation 4 titles have already announced support for these features.
