Project Morpheus Officially Renamed As PlayStation VR By Sony
Earlier today Sony through its Tokyo Game Show conference today, Project Morpheus was officially renamed as PlayStation VR. The new name of Project Morpheus was announce by Atsushi Morita, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. Shenmue III Gets a New Trailer
After famously appearing on Sony’s E3 showfloor out of the blue, Shenmue III released a new trailer on Wednesday. The trailer, called Lake of the Lantern Bugs, shows Shenhua and Ryo by a lakeside. It’s barely a half-minute long and comes near the closing of the Kickstarter campaign. At the time of writing, the Kickstarter has over five and a half million dollars and a day to go. Sony and MS Set for New Console War?
Sony and Microsoft look set to be gearing up for a new console war with their latest versions of the PS4 and Xbox One. A new listing suggests the tech giant is working on releasing an Xbox One console with a 1TB internal hard drive, which could mean two new models announced at E3 in June. The release of new PS4 and Xbox One models was predicted by Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt earlier this year, who went as far as to say that 4K support could soon be added by Sony. The price of the new model is set at $400 and has a release date listed for June 15. It could mean the new model will be launched straight after its announcement at E3, something Microsoft have done with revamped Xbox’s in the past. New PS4 model with 1TB hard drive
Sony has two new PS4 models in the works, one with a 1TB hard drive. The leak comes via the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) who have published documents relating to the two new consumer SKUs. DualShockers spotted the documentation, which reveals the model numbers as CUH-1215A and CUH-1215B, the latter of which has the expanded hard drive, the former with the original 500GB hard disk. They also come with new power supplies with lower output than the current ones – rated at 230W and 2.3-0.95A compared to the previous 250W and 2.5-1.15A. Sony is yet to make any official announcement about the new models, but with their E3 press conference two weeks away (16 June) it will now be expected that the new devices will be officially unveiled there. Sony today announced the free games PlayStation Plus members will receive in June, a list headlined by Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. PS4, PS3, and PS Vita each get two games of their own, but thanks to cross-buy, PS4 owners will receive a total of four free games next week. All six games will go free on Tuesday, June 2, replacing the existing set of freebies for May. If you haven’t already downloaded May’s games, you have until then to do so. I remember hearing about this movie a while back, and for the longest time I actually forgot about it. So the news of Pixel’s trailer being launched by Sony was quite a pleasant surprise. The trailer which features Adam Sandler and Peter Dinklage came out on Tuesday. The movies showcases a bunch of iconic gaming characters like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong attacking earth after misinterpreting arcade games as a declaration of war against them. And it looks crazy! Sony’s PS4 VR Headset Unveiled at GDC 2015
Sony yesterday revealed a new version of their PS4 virtual reality headset, code-named Project Morpheus, and though it isn’t final neither is it ready to go out onto the market, Sony has boasted how much better this one is than the one they showed off last year. Sony said at the GDC presentation in San Francisco, that Morpheus will ship out in the first half of 2016. There is however no word on how much it will cost. The latest version of the virtual reality kit has an OLED display with 1920×1080 resolution. It will also offer frame rate options of 60fps and 120fps. The screen is 5.7 inches, with 360-degree tracking. You can also wear glasses with this version of Morpheus, which is designed in such a way that a single band goes around your head.
