Armello – Review

As much as I love board games, it’s not always easy to get together a group friends or even manage the time to do so. It’s here that virtual board games come in handy, and Armello offers one of the most enjoyable experiences, be it playing alone or with friends. You start off with some basic tutorials that do an excellent job of easing you into the game and familiarizing you with it’s many rules. There are eight characters you can play as, and each of them have their own characteristics and abilities. You move them around the board to progress through the game, while tackling combat scenarios and avoiding dangers. At it’s core, Armello is a fantasy battle between animals to rule a kingdom. You objective is to kill the King. The King is constantly taking damage due to a disease called ‘The ...

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider – Review

Death Of The Outsider is what is being called these days an expand-alone. It’s a standalone DLC expansion for the Dishonored series, and has you playing as Billy Lurk, trying to kill the ultimate target – The Outsider. The Outsider has been an enigmatic figure in the series – the source of all the power, but always staying in the shadows. However, the same power he offers seems to come at a terrible price, and it’s time to end it. Fans of the Dishonored series will be instantly comfortable with what Death of the Outsider has to offer. While all the powers have been changed in some ways, the core of the game remains the same. The first person stealth is still top notch, and, once you get the hang of it, the combat is fun as as always. The new powers are one of the highlights her...

Life Is Strange: Before The Storm – Review (Awake)

While Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original Life is Strange is hard at work on a sequel, a smaller studio, Deck Nine, have been working on a shorter, but no less ambitious, prequel to the series, called Life is Strange: Before The Storm. Set three years before the events of the first game, this is a standalone adventure that puts you in the shoes of Chloe, and tells her story, along with the enigmatic Rachel Amber, who was missing in the first game. So Chloe is kind of a dick, and I hated that at the beginning. Gone was Max’s considered and likable demeanor, and when the game just started, I thought I was going to hate Chloe, and by extension, the game itself. But Chloe just didn’t let up, and kept being a dick. So I decided that I was going to make the dickiest choices possible. Viola...

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – Review

While most modern stealth games are more about encouraging you to play in a stealthy manner while still giving you options when things go wrong, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun demands that you strike from the shadows or die. Played in an isometric view, you’ll be controlling multiple characters as you make your way across treacherous enemy territory and complete objectives. It’s very much in the vein of older tactical games like Commandos, but with a lot more depth to the gameplay and a really interesting story. The game is based in Japan around the Edo period, and your role is to infiltrate, sabotage and assassinate as you are ordered. The story is well told and the five characters you play as are personable and have their own motivations. While you start off controlling just one ch...

Should You Buy The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max?

We’ve played around with a bunch of games over the last few years, and even with their busy release schedule and line-up of phones, Samsung still manages to surprise us with great smartphones on a regular basis. Their flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S8, has spoiled us on what we expect from flagships, and their mid range phones continue to deliver a reliable and satisfying experience. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max keeps the same trend going. With specs that justify the asking price, a sleek design, and clean, intuitive UI, the J7 Max is an excellent pick as your next smartphone. Here are some of the features that we absolutely love about the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max: The Camera The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max comes with a 13MP front and rear camera, and they both capture some great pictures. Vrantastic – Victor Vran: Overkill Edition Review

Many developers have tried their hand at the Diablo-esque loot-driven dungeon crawler, and Victor Vran is Haemimont Games Studios’ attempt at the same formula. And for the most part, they nail the formula, and succeed in delivering an action heavy game with a lot of style. Originally released in 2015 for the PC, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is the updated version of the game with all expansions and DLC for the PS4 and Xbox One. You play as Victor (voiced by none other than Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia), as a demon hunter travelling to Zagoravia at the behest of a friend’s call. The city itself is crawling with demons and monsters of all kinds, and it’s on Victor to fix the situation. Unlike most isometric RPGs, Victor Vran does not allow you to pick a class ...

Retroview: Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project

Babes, blood and bodies along with a lot of tasteful dialogue, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project feels more like a Duke Nukem game than Duke Nukem: Forever. Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a platform game developed by Sunstorm Interactive, produced by 3D Realms that was released on May 14, 2002. It was quite well received by critics when it released and got generally positive reviews in the 7-8 range out of 10. But the question is does the game still hold up and should you play it? Let’s start off with the gameplay of the game which is fairly simple. Jump, run and shoot your way to find a woman that has been strapped to a GLOPP bomb and to find a key that opens the exit. That’s the premise of every level of the game and you might think it gets repetitive but after playing through the game I d...

Mass Effect: Andromeda Pre-release patch

Mass Effect: Andromeda has already had its fair share of reviews and BioWare has already released its first patch. And if you already have hands on this game then you will know what those problems are. Some of it is on the surface and some problems go way deeper. But that doesn’t mean it is full of flaws. It also has done a very good job with some of its physics and game play from the previous games. I guess the issues we currently face have to be put on hold for a while and look into what BioWare has fixed with its first patch. It fixes some of the issues that the users reported from the EA/Origin early access version. The patch would have been downloaded along with the game and will be a part of the final version of the game. As noted down by BioWare, this patch fixes the black scr...

Can Ya Dig It, Sucka?! A Shovel Knight Review

An ode to the games of yesteryear, a beautiful love letter to 2D platforming genre and a mesmerizing 8-bit masterpiece that was made possible with the help of a community willing to take a risk. The game I’m talking about is the amazing “Shovel Knight”. The game that shines amongst its peers and makes it as one of the best 8-bit 2D platformers to have come out in recent times. Shovel Knight is a kickstarted 2D platformer with 8-bit visuals developed by Yacht Club Games. It took the gaming industry by surprise, because nobody expected it to do what it did; it provided a very solid gaming experience all-around. Taking inspiration from the best games of the NES era like Zelda II, Duck Tales, and Castlevania. Shovel Knight bundles these together to make a masterpiece that pays homage to its pr...

Fills Me With Determination: Undertale PC Review

A game that came as a breath of fresh air in a room full of remasters, remakes and rehashes, Undertale is a tale like no other. Unique, witty and fun, that is what Undertale is all about and it doesn’t take long to establish that. Taking inspiration from RPGs like Earthbound ( Also known as Mother 2) and The Mario and Luigi RPGs, with its comedic inspiration being Mr Bean, it is the amalgamation of these with a dash of creativity and wit which is what makes this game so unique and fun to play. Undertale starts off like most RPGs with a generic story, a young boy falls into a world of monsters and must find his way back home but that’s about as conventional as it gets. Once the intro is done, you get to taste the game for just a bit with an interaction that is bound to surprise you. This is...

Hack Doggy Style: Watch Dogs 2 Review

Ubisoft sure has learned a thing or 17 from it’s past failures, and Watch Dogs 2 is a culmination of all that learning, without rectifying all of the mistakes. Right off the bat, the game sets the tone for a vibrant, pop culture, social media and internet trends-driven cyber society, and puts you in the shoes of a young, very millennial hacker, Marcus Holloway. And that in itself shows how much Ubisoft wants to get away from the baggage that the franchise has from the first game in the series. Instead of a whiny-little-cunt of a protagonist, plodding through a drab city, we have a young fella, who just wants to gain social media followers, and bring about digital justice across the world. And the world in itself, set in San Francisco, is a colorful and rather accurate (and at times e...
