[interaction id=”5963780bf7ddd65e0bce104e”] Final Fantasy XV Even after a long development cycle and major improvements in gameplay and visuals, the overall final experience was ultimately disappointing. While individual battles and encounters were enjoyable, the game never delivered the sense of epic wonder and magic that Final Fantasy games usually do. Metal Gear Solid V The first hour of Metal Gear Solid V was pure Kojima madness, and I really...
This year’s Gamescom has seen quite a lot of announcements, among them being something that caught us a bit off-guard. The game is directly follows the events of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, and will feature the members of Militaires Sans Frontières who were not killed in the previous game. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is an upcoming open world action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and directed, designed, co-produced and co-written by Hideo Kojima. The game serves as a sequel to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and a continuation of the narrative established there. Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader Punished “Venom” Snake as he ventures into Afghanistan during the Soviet–Afghan War and the Angola—Zaire border region to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes. This is also the last game in the Met...
Earlier today, a story by Gamespot asserted that MGS5’s forward-operating-base (FOB) multiplayer mode would be “restricted behind a microtransaction paywall.” The site claimed that in order to access FOB, “[players] must first use real-world money to purchase MB Coins.” The story has since spread across multiple news sites and forums. In an official statement sent to PC Gamer, Konami has dismissed these claims as “simply not true.” Here’s Konami’s full statement: “Gamespot posted an article following the review that the PVP (FOB) mode in MGSV TPP will be restricted behind a micro-transaction paywall and that is simply not true. The FOB mode will be fully accessible at launch and the micro-transaction layer to that specific feature...
So let’s say you’re excited, interested, or even mildly curious about the pending release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but you never got around to playing some of the titles in the series. Heck, let’s say you’ve never played any of the games, but all the raving reviews and 10/10 scores has you thinking it’s finally time to jump into the Metal Gear universe. Let’s also assume real life prevents you from running out and buying all previous games and playing them non-stop before The Phantom Pain comes out in 5 days. Well, my friend, you have a problem. Of all the franchises that have attached a story to a video game, none have done so with more (and often maddening) intricacy than the Metal Gear games. What’s what and who’s who matte...

Video games play a role that is similar to that of movies and that is of wish fulfillment, in other words allowing us to play out those fantasies that we can’t in real life. For some its a pass time, for others its a way of escaping into another realm. However not all games can satisfy this need some of us have to get fully immersed into a game. There are times when we think a certain game can do it for us but we end up seeing our dreams being shot down in front of our eyes. This usually happens when game developers promise a certain level of gaming satisfaction through maybe trailers and leaked images and do not follow through with it. An example of this could simply be the death of a character that we didn’t expect/want to have happened but did. Even though most of the...
Gameplay Let’s not ignore that Ground Zeroes is short but it packs the punch and if you are a perfectionist then it is close to 10+ hours of gameplay to say the least. An opening cutscene, which is almost exactly the same as the original announcement trailer, sets the scene. Chico and Paz – which you’ll remember from Peace Walker– are in a prison camp, and you’ve gone in to rescue them. This is Kojima, so the story is more intricate than that, but I won’t spoil it for you. All I will say is that it ties together all the trailers you’ve seen for Metal Gear Solid V, and it has me waiting for the full title. In a first for the series, Ground Zeroes is billed as open world, though in truth that’s a little generous. The entire prison camp map is open from the start, with the ability to approac...
