Virtual Reality is the order of the day, and with VR headsets becoming widely available (and popular), we might get to see a lot in the VR department apart from games.
A tie-in project featuring The Martian (the one with Matt Damon), will have a VR experience based on the movie, releasing for the HTC Vive and the PlayStation VR.
The Martian VR Experience is produced by Scott Ridley (director of the movie) and directed by Maleficent’s Robert Stromberg. It lets you play as Mark Watney (the protagonist) during specific scenes of the movie, including the ones which feature driving the Mars Rover and flying around in zero gravity. An early version of the experience was featured at CES this year, and later at the Sundance Film Festival as well.
The Martian VR Experience will cost about USD 19.99, similar to other VR experiences and should be available for the PS VR and HTC Vive starting today.
