We continue our games of the month series with a list of titles due for release in July. Though the month constitutes the annual slump during summer game releases, there are still some good games to look forward to!

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 | Koei Tecmo

Platform: PC, PS4
Release Date: July 5

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, is the 13th installment in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game series by Koei. It promises “deep strategy and historically accurate warfare,” with city management, diplomacy, and “a wide selection of options for conflict resolution”. You can play as one of one of 700 historical characters, or choose to create one of their own instead.

Rocket League: Collector’s Edition Retail | Psyonix

Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: July 5

Everybody’s favourite RC car football game is getting a collector’s edition! This new edition will include the base game, plus cars and content found in the Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run DLC packs. It’ll also have four brand new vehicles debuting in the retail version.

ARK: Survival of the Fittest | Studio Wildcard

Platform: PS4
Release date: July 19

Turning an exploration survival into a Multiplayer Online Survival Arena (MOSA) game, ARK: Survival of the Fittest is played in rounds and at much faster pace. Its goal is to become the last man standing by killing all other competitors on the island.

We Happy Few | Compulsion Games

Platform: PC, Xbox One
Release Date: July 26 (Xbox Game Preview, Steam Early Access)

Twisted and creepy, this game goes to show how innovative indie studios are. You’re trapped in a world full of “joy”, and everything you do is monitored. Deemed a “downer”, can you escape before every single person around you literally bashes your head in?

Obduction | Cyan

Platform: PC
Release Date: July 26

Considered as the spiritual successor to Myst and Riven, Obduction is the long awaited action game by Cyan Worlds. You have been transported to a strange alien world and need to make your way back by exploring and solving the numerous puzzles.
