Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Will Follow A Different Tone From Uncharted 4

Speaking to the PlayStation Magazine UK, studio Creative Director Shaun Escayg said, “It will be tonally different, but in the same context of the Uncharted world. India’s got really nice iconography: hidden temples and weird deities we can play off of, so it’s a perfect setting for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.” Game Director Kurt Margenau also added that there will be some differences in the gameplay. “I would say we’re going a little more wide this time. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s something we’re excited about on the gameplay side, this kind of contrast of an urban setting and a rural setting; a tighter ...

Could Uncharted 4 Be In Deeper Trouble Due To The Assassin’s Creed Artwork?

In a somewhat awkward fumble by Naughty Dog, the latest story trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had featured artwork from an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag art book. While Ubisoft was quick to point it out, and Naughty Dog fixed that error promptly and rather gracefully, it did bring to mind the question whether the art work was used only in the painting set on the mantle or elsewhere in the game. To put it bluntly, was it used as a location in the game itself? If you watch the video carefully, you’ll notice that the locale shown right after the painting appears carries an uncanny resemblance. You can see the image below: If this does turn out to be the case, then Naughty Dog is surely scrambling to re-make this section of the game. Not only does any resemblance to ...

After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing).” This is the second delay for Uncharted 4, which...

Former Uncharted 4 Dev Defends Multiplayer Microtransactions

When Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will launch the game’s multiplayer mode in 2016, it will feature microtransactions from the beginning. Eric Monacelli who was working at Naughty Dog up until October being its community strategist has supported the action game’s use of micropayments. Speaking to MCV, Monacelli–who presently works for Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward–stated that controversy around microtransactions in gaming is nothing unusual. He mentioned that “people bridled” when Bethesda sold horse armor for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion back in 2006. “But if it is good enough content and you desire to pay for it, why not buy it?” he mentioned. “That is exactly what it comes down to.” Monacelli also questioned the concept that developers cut content from a game to sell it piece by p...
