The Top 10 Most Disappointing Games Of 2017

Every year there are games that we are all hyped up and eagerly waiting for, and every year some of the drop the ball. So here are the top 10 most disappointing games of 2017. These aren’t necessarily bad games, these are just game we expected better from. Mass Effect Andromeda This one is probably the most obvious pick. To be honest, I did enjoy Mass Effect: Andromeda’s combat  and exploration a lot. However, I was really hyped for this game, especially because I absolutely loved the original trilogy. Andromeda, sadly, never reaches the same heights. Star Wars Battlefront 2 At it’s core, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is an enjoyable game. It’s just so disappointing to see how badly EA screwed this over with their insatiable greed. As a shooter, it’s probably one of...

EA Loses $3 Billion In Stocks After Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Disaster

EA has already started seeing real consequence to their actions over Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Fan backlash aside, their stocks have fallen significantly, and just recently they suffered a loss of $3 billion in stocks. The stock value was down by 8.5% as of Tuesday. This is bound to make the shareholders angry, and EA ill have to reconsider their future actions. All of this comes on the heels of nasty microtransactions and pay-to-win elements in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, even after they removed at hours before release. It’s great to see community feedback and fan outcry making a real impact and difference. One can only hope that this serves as a warning to any other company who lets their greed run amok. EA May Just Have Killed All The Hype For Anthem, At Least For Me

Let’s face it, EA’s actions this year have been nothing but one disappointment after another for gamers everyhwere. From shutting down great studios to implementing highly questionable mechanics in their games, they have done everything to ensure they become one of the most hated companies in the gaming industry. In fact, their response to the Star Wars Battlefront II loot box debacle is the most downvoted post on Reddit! What makes it worse it that once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, some of the best titles to come out were published under the banner of EA. And they seem have thrown all of it away, just for one thing – profits. It seems like EA plans to stop at nothing when it comes to sucking the wallets of their customers. So much so, that they’ve actu...

Gamers Are Overreacting To Lootboxes, Publishers Should Raise Prices?

While the entire gamer community is rallying against lootboxes and predatory practices in the industry, one Wall Street analyst seems to think differently. Evan Wingren, an analyst at KeyBlanc Capital Markets said in a report to his clients that gamers had taken the EA’s poor handling of microtransactions as a rallying point to protest against all of microtransactions in the industry. He said that gamers were not being overcharged for games, instead paying a lot less than the games should actually cost. “We view the negative reaction to Star Wars Battlefront 2 (and industry trading sympathy) as an opportunity to add to Electronic Arts, Take-Two, and Activision Blizzard positions. The handling of the SWBF2 launch by EA has been poor; despite this, we view the suspension of MTX [...

EA Says Turning Off Microtransactions In Battlefront 2 Doesn’t Affect Earnings

Last week we saw a major backlash against Electronic Arts regarding their implementation of microtransactions and lootboxes in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. The progression system was entirely broken and favored ‘pay to win’ mechanics. Fans and gamers were outraged at the amount of greed and disregard for player happiness that EA seemed to be showing. The backlash got so bad that EA made multiple changes during the week, and finally disabled microtransactions entirely after being pressured by Disney, who owns the original Star Wars licence. What’s even worse is that EA is now telling investors that disabling microtransactions will seemingly not effect their earnings from Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in any significant way. This indicates that their sales predictions were already ...

EA Removes Microtransactions From Star Wars Battlefront II….Temporarily

Looks like the voice of the community is finally getting to the corporate overlords at Electronic Arts. After facing severe backlash for the fundamentally “pay-to-win-” progression system, the company has disabled the purchase of crystals, the in-game currency for Star Wars Battlefront II. Here’s the official statement. “As we approach the worldwide launch, it’s clear that many of you feel there are still challenges in the design. We’ve heard the concerns about potentially giving players unfair advantages. And we’ve heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game. This was never our intention. Sorry we didn’t get this right. We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing an...

EA Disputes “Pay-to-Win” Criticism For Star Wars Battlefront II

The rise of loot boxes is a disturbing trend. Unfortunately, every major release is riddled with this disease, and for once, everyone is openly criticising it. EA’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II is no stranger to this criticism, with its randomized reward system that can actually have an impact on the gameplay. However, EA has responded to the feedback following the open beta, and have tried to explain how the loot system is supposed to work in the final release. Here’s what they wrote in a blog post explaining the changes they want to make: There are many things you can earn in the game, including weapons, attachments, credits, Star Cards, Emotes, Outfits and Victory Poses.
