Mass Effect: Andromeda has added a well known name from the hit show Game of Thrones to its cast. Natalie Dormer, who portrayed Margery Tyrell in the show will play Dr. Lexi T’Perro, announced Bioware. She will be joining another Game of Thrones’ actor, Gethin Anthony, who is there in the game as well. Naturally, this is bound to lead to fun moments in the recording process. “I had a bit of a moment earlier when Gethin Anthony’s voice came in over across my headphones,” she says in the video. “It’s kind of a weird one, hearing Renly Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell in different guises.” Natalie Dormer and Gethin Anthony aren’t the only big stars in the game. Ryder’s father will be voiced by Clancy Brown, from The Shawshank Redemption...
The Mass Effect series never included crafting as a big component, but that’s about to change. Not only do you get to create weapons in Mass Effect: Andromeda, but apparently you can also name them. Lead Designer Ian Frazier teased on Twitter by announcing that the game allows players to craft their own Krogan-styled hammer and name it GRABTHAR’S HAMMER. To that, senior designer replies that he created his own assault rifle and called it FAST, and a sniper rifle which he decided to call FURIOUS. Why do devs have all the fun? @tibermoon Today in my in-progress playthrough I made an Assault Rifle named FAST and a Sniper Rifle named FURIOUS. — Justin Perez (@thejustinperez) January 17, 2017 That’s not all. When asked whether the game will also have more melee weapons, Frazie...
Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer component was in essence a standalone package, but in order to access the best ending in the game, you had to play co-op missions. This created some issues for hardcore solo players and the ones with not-so-good internet speeds. However, Bioware promises that Andromeda’s multiplayer will take a whole new direction. The system is much more optional, though still closely linked to the overall narrative. Producer Mike Gamble explained in a conversation with Kotaku Australia that the ‘Strike Team’ system in Andromeda will not affect the progress in the single player experience. “There’s a system that we use called the Strike Team system, and fundamentally it allows you to go between singleplayer and multiplayer within the game,...
Bioware General Manage Aaryn Flynn announced recently that there won’t be a Season Pass for the their upcoming game Mass Effect: Andromeda. This announcement was made as a reply to a fan who had asked Flynn on Twitter whether the game will have a Season Pass. When asked for more details regarding the DLCs, he replied, “We’ll talk about that later.” @coldboy33 @masseffect Nope — Aaryn Flynn (@AarynFlynn) January 7, 2017 Titanfall 2, another game that was released last year by EA did not have any kind of Season Pass. However, Mass Effect’s Twitter account and producer Michael Gamble confirmed that Andromeda will be available through Origin Access. Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to release for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 21st March. Register with...
During the NVIDIA CES 2017 keynote, a new gameplay video for Mass Effect: Andromeda was released, and though a bit short, it offers us a glimpse of what we can expect from the game. The footage shows various features, like the ability to change class on road using the new dynamic profile system, along with some alien busting-slash-roasting action. For a game that revolutionized the cover-based shooters, it doesn’t seem to involve much cover taking at this point. I guess we’ll have to wait for the official release to find out. You can check out the trailer below: In other news, the release date for Mass Effect: Andromeda has been announced officially. The game will release on 21st March in North America and 23rd March in Europe for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Reg...
Finally, the wait is over. Well, not exactly but now we know till when we need to wait. Bioware has announced that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be releasing on 21st March in North America and 23rd March in Europe. Aaryn Flynn, the General Manager of Bioware revealed the dates in a message talking about how Andromeda is the most ambitious Mass Effect project and why the release date had been kept secret for so long. “Over this holiday break, developers at BioWare took home a version of the game in what we call the ‘holiday build.’ This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure,” Flynn wrote. “Coming back from holiday, the f...
Last year, EA had teased its Nintendo Switch plans by indicating that it will bring one of its biggest games to the upcoming home-cum-portable console. Much to everyone’s dismay, that game might not be Mass Effect: Andromeda. In an interview with Stevivor, Producer Mike Gamble said that Bioware doesn’t have any plans to bring Andromeda to the Nintendo Switch yet. If the people really want to see it, they will consider it. “Yeah, not right now, no,” he said when asked about Andromeda’s Switch version. “We’re not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone’s just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows. We never want to close doors like that.” Earlier, Bioware had released Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U, but supposedly it did not fare w...
The year 2016, however good or bad it may have been, is over now, and with its end we turn over a new leaf. Or we think we’ll do anyway (New Year’s resolutions are so overrated). We saw quite a lot of games last year, some amazing and some downright pathetic. We also caught a glimpse of major titles that are scheduled for release this year. Here’s our list of the most anticipated games that are supposedly releasing in 2017. All aboard the hype train! Mass Effect: Andromeda Platforms: Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Bioware is bringing its epic space franchise back with a trip to the Andromeda Galaxy. It will be the first game in Mass Effect series to have an open world, moving away from the story of the original trilogy. Life in the Milky Way galaxy is in turmoil,...
A gameplay trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda was long overdue, and it’s finally here. Premiered at The Game Awards, we finally have some knowledge of what to expect from the upcoming Bioware title. You can check out the trailer below. The trailer showcases a lot of details, along with a narration that describes features that make this iteration different from the original trilogy. It looks a lot less cover-based than its predecessors, and a lot more action-packed. We still don’t know whether pausing and issuing commands to your squad are there, but it still looks kickass. You can teleport (or as the game describes it, Biotic Charge) or be like a Pyromancer and shoot flames out of your hands. Finally! Crafting and resource gathering will also be a focus of the game, which could...
A new gameplay trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda was showcased at the Playstation Meeting, showing off the 4K capabilities of the Playstation 4 Pro. The trailer features very unfamiliar alien environments, a new power jump mechanic and the new default Ryder character. As the first official gameplay for the game, it offers significant insight to what we can expect from the game. I mean, 4K is all good, the PS 4 Pro is cool, but I’m definitely more psyched for Andromeda. According EA, a new trailer is on the way, and they will “officially open the doors to the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe”. I’m guessing it will be some sort of Early Access/Alpha/Open Beta kind of thing. Check out the cool high-res trailer below. Mass Effect: Andromeda is expected t...
Until now, EA had been a naysayer when it came to remastering games, sometimes even speaking against the whole practice. In 2015, Peter Moore had described the company as one “that just likes to push forward,” adding that remastering games “feels like pushing stuff out because you’ve run out of ideas. Well, that may just change in the future, and for the better as it may start with a remaster of Mass Effect titles. EA Studios’ Patrick Soderlund spoke about this in detail to GameInformer at Gamescom. When asked if anything had changed regarding their mindset about remasters, like the Mass Effect trilogy for instance, he said, “What’s changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke (back in 20...
