Roundup August 2016: RX 480 Launch, Indie Game Jam, Celebrating Asphalt’s Birthday and More

The month of August had been quite a hectic one for all of us here at Gaming Central. From quite literally the start of the month we had events after events. But it was all worth it at the end when we got to meet our community members, who we interact with over our Facebook live-streams. Here is what went down at GC this month. Radeon RX 480 Launch Jasmeet was pulling off all-nighters to get stuff working. Pretty sure he’s sleeping in this picture. We hosted AMD’s RX 480 official launch here in India. We put up various systems to on display at the event for everyone to actually try VR on the 480. What most people missed out on was the manual labor that went on behind the scenes. Needless to say we didn’t have a lot of space in the office that week. We kinda just sat aroun...

Indie Game Jam Event Round Up

Last weekend, that is the 27th-28th of August, we got to be a part of something quite spectacular, The Indie Game Jame. A competition where game developers were to make a game around a given theme within a 24 hour time limit. Teams were encouraged to interact with each other, share ideas and even help competitors if they so wished. The aim for the 24 hour long marathon was simple -create a kickass playable prototype based on the themes announced on the spot. The winner gets INR 40,000 on the spot and additional funding support to complete the game. Before the event kicked off, Piyush an...

Blyss: Developer Interview With Dropout Games

Blyss, the second game by Dropout Games, released quite recently on the Apple App Store. It instantly landed itself a handful of excellent reviews and ratings from AppAdvice (4.5/5) and Pocket Gamer (8/10). MacStories went ahead and called Blyss, “One of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played” and TouchArcade states that, “Blyss appears to achieve that sweet spot of being complex and in depth, while still having a zen-like vibe.” While Blyss was achieving all this praise in its first month, we got in touch with Ankush Madad, Co-Founder of Dropout Games, and asked him about how he feels about their game, and the fact that they got featured as the Apple App Store’s “iOS Editor’s Choice.” Gaming Central: Congratulations on the release of y...
