After Bethesda announced Dishonored 2, a Skyrim remaster and DLCs for DOOM and Fallout 4, people have been speculating about what’s the next big thing for the studio. And while they have made clear that the next Elder Scrolls title is definitely not in the making, there may be something else coming our way. One small thing which seemed to leak through was a follow-up to 2014’s horror game The Evil Within. And now, Bethesda’s Vice President Pete Hines has said that the scarefest The Evil Within, and the action packed FPS Rage ahd both done well enough for the studio to think about making sequels. Nothing is concrete yet, mind you.
In a conversation with Finder at QuakeCon, Hines was asked about both the titles and the possibility of sequels in near future. Here’s a small extract:
“Finder: Did The Evil Within sell well enough to warrant a sequel?
Pete Hines: (Without hesitation) Yes!
Finder: What about Rage?
Pete Hines: I think so.”
Hines has always been a little enthusiastic, admitting he has a tendency to get in trouble when talking about unannounced games and what the studio may or may not have in plans. However, he did offer a little more when asked whether said sequels are a possibility.
He said: “Even when we were talking about the Morrowind Remaster, if I come out and say, ‘I just don’t think that is going to happen,’ then people freak out. So I won’t confirm or deny stuff we may or may not do, as people jump to the wrong conclusions. But I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels. Personally I loved Rage and had a tonne of fun playing it, but we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see.”
Now he may have been a little hesitant to commit, but we’ll love to return to the twisted, psychologically messed up world of The Evil Within.
