PS4 Head Says Xbox One X Specs Don’t Matter Without Games

With the Xbox One X’s launch just around the corner, there’s one big question that’s being asked by potential customers – “Where are the games?” The lack of big first-party exclusives has been haunting the Xbox One since its release, and Playstation 4’s 2017 lineup only makes it worse. Sony has been bringing out big hits like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, and it’s clear that they are absolutely dominating the market right now. And Playstation’s Global Sales Head Jim Ryan seems to have a similar idea.

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Jim Ryan said:

Specs are interesting but that’s all they are: specifications. The proof is in how the games look – and which games they are. You saw last night, there was a great range of games – many of which are exclusive to our platform and you will only find on a PS4 Pro, that I think allow us to feel – as I said almost three times last night – that we remain the best place to play.

Certainly for us it is one of the key differentiators, yes. Games like Uncharted 4, we just had Gran Turismo, a whole range of stuff from studios located in Japan and Europe – obviously Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games here in Europe – West Coast of America – we’ve spent a lot of time nurturing that network of studios, a lot of time over many, many years, and a lot of hard work. but we think now it’s a big asset for us.

He makes a fair point in what he says. Microsoft is definitely struggling when it comes to games, while Sony has been knocking it out of the park.

One can only hope that they have some games ready for next year, because the Xbox One X sure does look like a great piece of hardware.
