PS Neo To Launch This Year, Despite Being A No-Show At E3?

The PS Neo is surrounded by rumors, the latest ones indicating that it may launch this year itself, despite having no mention at E3 2016. Is it possible that Sony might have sped up the treadmill after the Project Scorpio announcement? Or maybe Sony’s attempt to prevent its fan base from jumping on to the PC wagon?

All this is mere speculation, but it certainly bring out the best of titles for the gamers, seeing these two giants go head-to-head. The most interesting thing now, perhaps, will be how developers plan to utilize their resources if and when the Neo is released this year.  Another thing that may become clear is that whether 4K is really the focus for these companies. While it may be a good decision for Sony to wait for more content to be available for the PS Neo before they reveal it, it surely has got their community on the toes.

It is public news that one of the key motivations behind the PS Neo was to “specifically to prevent high-end users from abandoning the product at an earlier point than its natural eight-year lifespan”. According to The Guardian, Andrew House, the CEO of Sony Entertainment Interactive, in addition to expressing his surprise at the announcement of Project Scorpio also said, “We’ve traditionally seen that some of the core audience tends to gravitate back to high-end PCs at some point because these are the people who want the finest graphical performance. So here’s a great opportunity to have them stay within our ecosystem.”  And to some extent it is true. A lot of discussion in the gaming community is dominated by spec wars and graphics, and Sony might just want to hang on to the fans desiring that 4k/60 fps gameplay.

Whatever the reason may be for them releasing the PS Neo this year (IF they do), we can just say one thing to Sony – Keep making the amazing titles like you always have. No matter pretty how pretty a game may look, nothing beats a great story. And great stories are something that Sony is known for.
