During the Nintendo Direct event focused around Fire Emblem, Nintendo announced a new surprise game for the 3DS.
Called Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the game seems to be a remake of or takes heavy inspiration from Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the series. Gaiden was launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992, but never saw a release outside Japan. The game also had some unique significant elements, which Nintendo says will be represented in the new title.
Nintendo claims that Shadows of Valentia will include a world map you can navigate and 3D areas which you can wander around and explore. As far as character progression is concerned, it has been described as pretty “flexible”.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is set to release on 19th May. To mark the launch of the game, a two-pack of Amiibo figures will also be made available, featuring the game’s two protagonist, Alm and Celica.
