American Punk Rock band Green Day have said that they are worried about video games becoming more and more violent, and the impact they’re going to have on children.
The band, best known for tracks like American Idiot, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Basket Case, Jesus of Suburbia and many more, said that video games are becoming so violent they think it’s going to scar their children. They also have similar concerns regarding MMA being shown on TV.
Here’s what bassist Mike Dirnt had to say to Kerrang!: “My kids are going to grow up seeing things that I never saw, like Mixed Martial Arts. When that first came out, people were ‘Oh fuck, that’s fucking violent.’ And now they play it on TV in restaurants. I’m supposed to eat and watch this shit wherever I go? Nothing makes me hungrier than watching two guys in weenie bikinis kicking the shit out of each other. Dirnt went on to say, “Video games are different now too. You’re actually in there shooting and killing people. And that’s got to take a toll, but I don’t have the solutions.” I guess they really want to lay down their arms and give up the fight.
The three-piece band is set to release their new album, Revolution Radio on 7 October.
