RPG’s probably have one of the most loyal fan followings of any gaming genre that is out there today. It’s no surprise that this the fan following carried over onto mobile devices. Whether it is Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft, people take time out to craft their characters to make their gaming experience more memorable. On that note, here are RPGs that hit it off on mobile phones this year-

The Shadow Sun

The Shadow Sun comes from the team that worked on RPG series like Dungeons and Dragons and The Witcher. This story driven RPG is packed with a ten-hour adventure. Developers Ossian Studios created an enduring open world game with over seventy locations, hundreds of items to obtain, numerous quests and the free to customize your character.

Banner Saga

The Banner Saga is your typical RPG but with so many elements that keep you glued to it. Set in a Viking inspired world with amazing hand-drawn animation sequences and an art style inspired the Disney film, Sleeping Beauty, Banner Saga’s main focus lies in the decisions that the player makes as they traverse across the harsh cold world where they will meet new potential allies or enemies.

7 Mages

7 Mages is a mobile RPG that takes inspiration from classic computer RPGs and Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. The game casts players as the seven mages who have to defend the island of Roven against enemies. 7 Mages is a blend of older games like Eye of the Beholder and Legend of Grimrock, putting together a detailed turn-based combat with adventure like puzzles. The first part of the game is free, while the remaining parts are unlockable as in-app purchases.

Doom and Destiny Advanced

This game is reboot of the original Doom and Destiny which was a favourite of many gamers. Doom and Destiny Advanced features a lot of the same characters and premise as the original but in a new and refreshing story line. It has about 15 hours of content with free content being added and features an online co-op mode. Its a good choice for gamers who are retro fans.

Mage and Minions is not only a free to play RPG but one of the fewer RPGs that can be played offline. Evoland

Evoland is a fun mixture of various games in a rather unique way. It sets you up to play through the history of action-adventure games and includes 2D and 3D environments. This is the first game I’ve heard of that undertakes such an adventure. This game features both turned based and hack-n-slash combat. Through the game you unlock new types of combat and new environments that literally takes you through the ages of gaming.

Dungeon Hunter 4

The fourth iteration of the Dungeon Hunter series is a must-play if you’re the hack-and-slash type.Players are pitted into a deeply immersive world, flocked by demons.
