Naughty Dog is releasing a wave-based horde mode for its critically acclaimed title Uncharted 4,adding on to the game’s multiplayer component.
Known as Uncharted 4 Survival, the mode pits your against human enemies (NOT zombies, thankfully), including the standard Shoreline mercenaries and more difficult foes like snipers, hunters and brutes.
The Survival mode will offer about 50 waves of increasingly tougher enemies, and will span about 10 maps. According to a report by IGN, the mode is split into 10 sets of 5 waves and will have a progress save feature so you don’t have to start from scratch every time. You can also set the difficulty at the beginnning. Once you defeat the game on Hard, it unlocks the Crushing difficulty.
Every 10 waves, you’ll encounter a boss battle with what looks like a Pirate Warlord. It’s not simply limited to combat, though. There will also be objectives and qualifiers, like defending a particular section of the map and collect treasures in a given amount of time. To mix things up, you’ll also have to kill enemies a certain way, like with melee attacks or headshots. You can check out the trailer for the mode below:
Uncharted 4 Survival mode will release as a free update mid-December, and can be played either solo or with up to two other players online. You can also try it out during the PlayStation Experience 2016 from 3-4 December. Well, if you’re willing to fly to California, that is.
