Cosplaying is quite a spectacle around the world. Some of the best cosplayers are seen in the Comic-Cons that take place in the States. However it is an activity that many have grown fond of and is spreading to other parts of the world. In the last Comic Con here in Delhi we managed to see a few people do good jobs as dressing up as gaming/anime characters.
Today with us here we have Akanksha Sachan, an aspiring Indian cosplayer who has taken part in many competitions. Here to give us some more insight into the industry, Akanksha will share with us what her journey has been like till now.
Gaming Central: So Akanksha, how long have you been cosplaying?
Akanksha Sachan: I’d have to say about 3 years ago, so around 2012.
GC: When did you realize that cosplaying was one of your passions and not just a hobby anymore?
AS: I was always interested in cosplaying but started taking it seriously from 2012.
GC: Gaming as it is has a pretty stagnant notion here in India, being a girl did it make it harder for you to convince others of your passion?
AS: No not really, I never found it hard. My parents supported me no matter what I wanted to do. They always encouraged me to follow whatever I found the passion for doing. I owe a lot to my brother because he was the one who got me into gaming which led me to Anime.
GC: What is your favorite game?
AS: CS without a doubt
GC: Do you belong to the PS, Xbox or PC clan?
AS: PC, haha.
GC: If you had one superpower, what would it be?
AS: I’d wish for the superpower to make anything I wish. It’s selfish I know haha
GC: Okay so here is a very random one for you, if you were locked in a room with Joker with nothing but a pogo stick and sombrero in your hand, what would you do?
1.Take turns going on the pogo stick
2. Make Joker wear the sombrero while you pummel him with the pogo stick
3. Or just sit there waiting for Batman to save you
AS: I’d wait for Batman to do his thing.
GC: If there was one gaming character you could meet, real or virtual who would it be and why?
AS: Dante,Cloud Strife, who would not want to see the hottest male characters from their favorite video games come to life.
GC:If cosplaying wasn’t in the picture, what do you imagine doing?
AS: Well, I am a fashion designer right now. So I’d probably still be doing this either way.
GC: Do you have any advice for other gamer girls out there?
AS: I am not too sure about the word “girl gamer.” For me a gamer is a gamer, and there should not be any discrimination in this. And keep following your passion
GC: Well thank you so much for your time Akanksha, and we wish you all the very best for your future.
AS: Thanks guys.
