With newer smartphones packing increasing powerful hardware, it’s no surprise that the quality of games for these smartphones have also risen greatly. I had been using a fairly year old phone over the last few months, and when we got the OnePlus 5T (Limited Star Wars Edition, it’s damn beautiful), for review, I eagerly jumped in to see what the latest offerings in video games were on the Play Store.
With 8 gigabytes of RAM and the Snapdragon 835 Octa Core processor powering the OnePlus 5T, I had no issues running games smoothly. Even PUBG ran as smooth as butter on the device, that too at max graphics. Speaking of graphics, Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition sure is looker, specially with everything turned up to high, and so is Cat Quest. The HD screen made everything look crisp and vibrant, and the 3300 mAH battery kept me going through lengthy play sessions.
The Gaming – Do Not Disturb feature on the phone is also really neat. You can turn off notifications while you’re playing games, and even disable the touch buttons to avoid being thrown to the home screen due to accidental tapping.
I tried a bunch of games, to the point of filling up the entirety of the 128 GB storage that the OnePlus 5T came with, and here were some of my favorites that I’d recommend.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds
100 players parachute onto a remote 8×8 km island for a winner-takes-all showdown. Players have to locate and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles and supplies, and defeat every player in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that forces players into a shrinking play zone. Get ready to land, loot, and do whatever it takes to survive and be the last man standing!
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition
After years of fighting, the nations of Lucis and Niflheim at last agree to an armistice. As a symbol of this promised peace, Noctis, crown prince of Lucis, is to wed the Lady Lunafreya of Tenebrae. The prince sets forth for his wedding on the eve of the signing ceremony, sent off by his father, King Regis. Unbeknownst to Noctis, however, the journey ahead is fraught with perils…
