Naughty Dog Says Uncharted Sequel Could Be Open World, If They Make It

In an interview with Eurogamer, Lost Legacy’s creative director and writer Shaun Escayg when asked about if the Uncharted world was done since Nathan Drake’s Story was over he said, “I wouldn’t say it’s the end. This thieving world is huge. There’s so many characters. Even before we settled on this particular story we were exploring Sullivan, we were exploring Cutter, and pairing each other up, thinking what would be right, what would have conflict, growth, something new, something fresh. And Chloe was the one that kept jumping out. But to say the Uncharted world is done… I doubt that highly.” This basically means that Lost Legacy is not the last Uncharted game and we can expect more games that feature the other characters. And that’s n...

Uncharted Writer Criticizes AAA Gaming Industry, Says It’s Not Worth It

Amy Hennig, the writer behind the critically acclaimed Uncharted series, has publicly denounced the AAA gaming industry, saying that the conditions under which the people making the games work are unacceptable. In an audio interview for the Idle Thumbs Designer Notes podcast, here’s what Hennig had to say when asked about how the industry’s standards affect her personally, “Really hard. The whole time I was at Naughty Dog – ten and a half years – I probably, on average, I don’t know if I ever worked less than 80 hours a week. There were exceptions where it was like ‘Okay, let’s take a couple of days off’, but I pretty much worked seven days a week, at least 12 hours a day. A lot of the team was there. I mean, Naughty Dog is pretty notorious for the...

You Wouldn’t Want To Mess With These Badass Women In Video Games

When it comes to video games, female characters may sometimes find it a little difficult to keep their dignity intact, in light of over-sexualization and the stereotyping as mere “damsels in distress” waiting to be rescued by the game’s mostly (not always, mind you) male protagonist. Now, that may have been the case when the majority of the members in the gaming community were guys. But times are changing. Women are gaining more recognition, becoming more and more kickass by the day, and if recent reports are correct, female gamers now outnumber their male counterparts. What better way to commemorate that than to celebrate badass women in the world of gaming? Here are 5 women who surely don’t need anyone’s protection. Lara Croft : Tomb Raider One of the most i...

The Last of Us and Uncharted Movies: The Wait Carries On

Two of Naughty Dog’s loved most love franchises, The Last of Us and Uncharted are coming out as movies, but the release date has a big question mark. Neil Druckman, the Creative Director behind both the titles, in a recent interview with The Frame said, “I have been a writer on it (The Last of Us movie adaptation), but right now it hasn’t moved anywhere in the past couple years.” He goes on to say, “The Uncharted film has been in development now for I think nine years so we’ve learned these things happen at their own time, very slowly.” In a past interview with IGN, Druckman had offered some disappointing news about the movie, “”I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of...

Uncharted 4 Delayed to April 2016

Naughty Dog’s has released some pretty bad news this Christmas, they’re delaying Uncharted 4 to April 26, 2016. “This is our largest Uncharted game to date, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game’s development in a timely manner,” directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley wrote on the PlayStation Blog today. “However, as we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game’s levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line. After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing).” This is the second delay for Uncharted 4, which...
