The Sonic series has been through a lot over the years, with the fans’ love for the Hedgehog being reciprocated by mediocre games nobody enjoyed. However, Sega has finally made a Sonic game, with the help of long time fans, and Sonic Mania is one of the best, if not the best, Sonic game ever made. Sonic Mania immediately feels like a game from the 90’s, in the best way possible. There are all the refinements that were needed to hold up to today’s standards, while including everything that made Sonic so beloved in the first place. Excellent level design allow the game to go at really high speeds, without feeling like you are not in control. Sonic Mania Competitive Multiplayer Mode Gameplay Revealed
Sega has revealed that a new “Competition Mode” will be an additional mode the upcoming Sonic Mania. In Competition Mode, winners are determined by factors such as clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing a level, and total number of rings acquired throughout the level. Players can adjust the rules of each match by adjusting items in the item boxes and number of rounds that take place. Sonic Mania Unveils Bonus Stages and Time Attack Mode
Following SEGA’s San Diego Comic-Con announcement that Special Stages will be a feature in Sonic Mania, today the team revealed that Bonus Stages (“Blue Spheres”) and Time Attack have also been included in the game. In “Blue Spheres”, players navigate Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles through a series of blue spheres to clear the stage. But be careful! Once touched, the blue spheres will turn red. Touching a red sphere instantly ends the Bonus Stage. Silver Medallions are awarded to players who complete the Bonus Stage, while collecting all the blue spheres and rings awards players with a perfect score and a Gold Medallion. Sonic Mania is almost here! Today, SEGA unveiled a brand-new trailer featuring sketch animation to announce that the game will launch on August 15th. Fans can pre-order the game digitally now for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, and PC here.
