The studio best known as the makers of Sleeping Dogs, United Front Games has been shut down in what seems like a sudden move. Currently, the studio had been working on Smash + Grab, an arena style gang-fighting game, where players fight with their gangs for loot and fame in an urban dystopia. The game had only recently hit Early Access on Steam, and had a free weekend about a week ago. Considering all this, this shutdown seems a little surprising. In 2014, United Front Games had signed up with Nexon for publishing the game, which was hyped until the very last moment. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition promises A more well-realized and immersive experience on the mean streets of Hong Kong. Will it be better in ways that actually matter? The idea here is to use the increased power of next-gen consoles and the PC to deliver enhanced gameplay, more advanced visual effects, heavier traffic and more pedestrians, making the in-game Hong Kong feel more like a living, breathing, and very crowded city. As noted earlier, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition will include all previously-released DLC, which is a fair chunk of extra content. But unlike some ‘remastered’ games Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition will be more expensive than the upcoming (and wholly new) Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition comes out on October 14.
