The creator of the hit video game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is in talks with Microsoft about extending their agreement to publish the game exclusively on Xbox, according to people familiar with the matter. South Korea’s Bluehole has agreed to produce the game for Microsoft first by the end of the year and is likely to give the company a longer period as the solo console, said the people, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. Games are typically offered exclusively for about three months to encourage people to buy a particular console, so Xbox may have the game to itself until the middle of next year or longer. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become this year’s surprise hit of the game industry, selling 13 million copies and shattering records for personal-compute...
Looks like this chicken isn’t gonna stop anytime soon. Recently, the hit battle royale title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds crossed the 12 million sales mark, putting it ahead of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Valve’s Half-Life 2. The game has seen immense success in a very short period of time. How short? In the beginning of September, the devs had posted on Twitter, celebrating 10 million sales. 10 MILLION SOLD! Never did I think we would reach such a number! Thank you all for your continuing support of the @PUBATTLEGROUNDS team <3 — PLAYERUNKNOWN (@PLAYERUNKNOWN) 5 September 2017 That’s not all. PUBG, as it is known lovingly, has accomplished this feat in a mere 6-month window. AND, the game is still in Early Access! I may not be a huge fan of...
What started out as a fan mod for Arma 3 is now an entirely different beast. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now the most played game on Steam with over 1.3 million concurrent players. Here’s a look as some of the stats: While DOTA 2’s peak during the Internationals stands at just over 1.2 million, and that’s including the hundreds of thousands of spectators: PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with community feedback. Starting with nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the lone survivor. This realistic, high tension game is set on a massive 8×8 km island with a level of detail that showcases Unreal Engine 4’s capabilities. PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Greene, is a pioneer...
Of all the games that are popular across the world, there are some that hit the right note with the Indian audience. We asked gamers in our community which multiplayer games they played the most, and here’s what they had to say. Sure, there’s definitely some overlap, but gamers here who are in college also tend to lean more towards free to play titles and even mobile games. What surprised me was how few gamers said that they played Destiny, which is something we at the office are really into. I guess it’s primarily because a majority of gamers here play on PC. So here are the top 10 best multiplayer games that Indian gamers love. Ghost Recon Wildlands Journey through Ubisoft’s largest action-adventure open world. Felix “Pewdiepie” Kjellberg has been taking some flak over the last few months regarding his content containing racial jests and commentary. While Pewdiepie himself has defended himself saying that his words were taken out of content, and the media is out to get him, others disagree. And for some of those who disagree, this latest ‘incident’ has crossed a line. In a recent video, while playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Pewdiepie shouts some obscenities, including the N-word. “What a fucking n-” says Pewdiepie, while downing an opponent, “Sorry, but what the fuck. What a fucking asshole.” The original video has since been deleted from his channel, but here’s an alternative upload. This does look really bad for him, and game developers have finally decided to tak...
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Brendan Greene, the guy behind the ARMA III mod that led to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, discussed about bringing the game to the Xbox One alongside the release of the Xbox One X and how Microsoft has been a really big help in porting the game over from PC to console. You can read the full interview here, and below are some of the highlights. Microsoft is sending over a bunch of staff to both Bluehole in Korea and utilizing their staff in Spain to help port the game while the main team keeps working on the PC version. Microsoft is also helping them with security and anti-cheat design for the PC version. Microsoft is aiding them in designing the controller feel (button mappings, auto-aim, etc) for the game, utilizing their experience in ...
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (fondly called PUBG) has taken the video game world by a storm since release, selling over 8 million copies since it released on Steam Early Access. Day by the day, the player numbers have been rising, and it recently took the top spot, replacing the usual contenders DOTA 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, as the most played game on Steam. IS PUBG now actually getting bigger than Valve titular games? It does seem so, and with the console release imminent in a few months, who knows how big the game will be. Have you too been jumping off planes and shooting down people? When the Xbox One was announced originally, people were skeptical if it was more powerful than the PS4. Turns out it was not as powerful as the PS4 which led to a lot of criticism towards Microsoft and Xbox. Then came the PS4 Pro and people bashed Microsoft even more.
