Is Mini Militia The Next Counter Strike For College Kids?

Before ye champions dismiss this as tripe, consider for a minute the points that may actually work in the favour of a mobile game like Mini Militia. Here, I’ll look at both these games from the perspective of a college kid because that is what I am. If you are a serious gamer who is already fuming over the title of this article, stand down, friend and read on. Graphics There really is no competition here. Mini Militia is the ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ to CS:GO’s ‘War and Peace’. However, the mobile platform severely restricts what the developers can do and Mini Militia does a nice enough job with its cartoony graphics. The point here is that even those without a laptop to their own can easily get into Mini Militia. Even if you don’t have a fancy laptop, chances are that even your budget smartp...

Why Are College Kids Crazy For Mini Militia?

Just about six months ago I was staying in the YMCA boys hostel in Bombay. As you would imagine, gaming was a huge deal with the guys. At night you would have guys all move up to the third floor and pull off all-nighters playing some of their favorite games. While there were hardcore PC gamers, there were also a bunch of us who played games on our phones. Bomb Squad was one such game take we could play at any time during the day, be it in our rooms or even in the mess, just whip out your phone and set up a local game for everybody to join. However, off late there is another game that takes the multiplayer prize. Mini Militia is the new game on the block that has gamers glued to their phone screens. The game is best described as the lovechild of teeworlds and Counter-Strike. From the outset...

Dorm Room Chronicles – JECRC

We’ve been working on a campaign called Gamer Rebellion where we showcase high end gaming PC’s in premier colleges across Delhi and Jaipur. I took this opportunity to meet with the students that reside in the hostels of these colleges and get an insight into what the gaming scene is like in these hostels. We’ve all had great memories from our college days and I just wanted these guys to be able to share their stories on our platform. A rebellion is brewing at #NSIT today at 3. Will you be there? #GamerRebellion #Gaming #VR #AMD #G2A #DeusEx #RX480 #GPU A photo posted by Gaming Central (@gamingcentralindia) on Sep 27, 2016 at 11:23pm PDT I was able to meet some of the students in the JECRC college hostel after our event at their college. There are times when you resolve to study, even if they come rarely. You sit in class with note-taking paraphernalia ready for action and you might even write down a word or two. But soon, as the class progresses, you start thinking about that new game you want to play or the pizza you had last night and fall into a reverie. You realize with a start that you intended on studying this semester and glance up at the board to find an entirely new set of symbols which barely make sense to you. At this point, you have two options. Either you make a miserable attempt at trying to study again, or whip out your phone, grab a similarly disenchanted classmate and try out these games we’ve got for you! 1. Through the Fog Through the wall is an endless runner which is a lot of fun to play on your own b...

After the blaring success of Pokémon GO, Sony Chief Executive Kaz Hirai has said that Sony will will be aggressively entering the mobile market. In an interview with the Financial Times, Hiraz said, “Mobile gaming is something we are aggressively getting into. It’s quite a shift from being just a console-based business to being on mobile phones as well.” Stating his reasons as well, he says, “Pokémon Go is a real game-changer. I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally.” FowardWorks will be taking point on Sony’s smartphone game development, and additionally, the Financial Times has reported that ...

Blyss: Developer Interview With Dropout Games

Blyss, the second game by Dropout Games, released quite recently on the Apple App Store. It instantly landed itself a handful of excellent reviews and ratings from AppAdvice (4.5/5) and Pocket Gamer (8/10). MacStories went ahead and called Blyss, “One of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played” and TouchArcade states that, “Blyss appears to achieve that sweet spot of being complex and in depth, while still having a zen-like vibe.” While Blyss was achieving all this praise in its first month, we got in touch with Ankush Madad, Co-Founder of Dropout Games, and asked him about how he feels about their game, and the fact that they got featured as the Apple App Store’s “iOS Editor’s Choice.” Gaming Central: Congratulations on the release of y...

You’ll Be Surprised To See How Many of These Games Were Made By Indian Developers

Did you know that a lot of the animation for movies like Life of Pi, Avatar, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe were all done in India? I read somewhere that each hair on Aslan’s mane was individually controlled to give the best visual appeal. Next time while waiting for the extra scene in an X-men or Deadpool movie, just pay a little more attention to the names mentioned in the credits. You’ll end up reading more Indian names than you thought existed! Even though we posses the skills, India is still to come up with a hit game. But independent developers take on smaller ventures such as mobile games and apps and I have to say are pretty damn good at it. And since we’re in the patriotic mood, here is a list of the best mobile games that are made right h...
