China calls back ban on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U temporarily

Now Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo can all breathe a sigh of relief after China announced it has temporarily lifted its long-term ban on foreign video game consoles, allowing products like the PS4, Xbox One and the Wii U to take a dip into the economy of a potentially massive market. The part that will most likely freak you’ll out is that this ban had been in effect for the past 14 years! PS4 outsells Xbox One in UK by a decent margin

To some it may come to as a shock, but Sony’s PS4 outsold the Xbox One by almost 166,000 units in the UK during 2013. According to Chart-Track data obtained by the Entertainment Retailers Association, the PS4 sold 530,000 units throughout the region, while the Xbox One only managed to sell around 364,000 units. Another interesting stat is that the Next-gen consoles have earned a combined £326m at UK retail, with PS4 hardware generating £181.8m, and Xbox One earning £144.5m. Microsoft is believed to have sold more than 2 million units around the world, selling 111,111 units per day since making its debut on November 22. Why Microsoft admires Nintendo?

In a fairly recent interview, Microsoft Studios corporate Vice President, Phil Spencer, had some really nice things to say about Microsoft’s contender, Nintendo. He went on praising Nintendo in various areas, calling Nintendo’s first-party games an “amazing asset” and said that Nintendo’s platforms “are almost in service to the IP – not in a bad way.” He also attributed the positive response of Killer Instinct on the Xbox One to Nintendo, since Rare’s originated from Nintendo. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed now on your phone

Shenmue’s Ryo is being featured as a playable racer in Sega’s newly released Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on mobile devices. The game can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store and Google Play for $4.99. This mobile version of the game features 10 playable racers, (and we heard more are on their way!), multiple control options optimized for mobile devices, and the same style of arcade racing which spices up things with dynamic tracks and transformable vehicles. According to various reviews, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game has occasional techinical glitches, but was a good game to watch and play nevertheless. Deadpool, Spider-Man, X-Men games pulled from digital stores

Deadpool, Spider-Man and X-Men games are no longer available to download digitally. Developed by Activision, titles such as X-Men: Origins, X-Men: Destiny, X-Men: The Official Game, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Deadpool have been removed from Xbox Live, PSN and Steam. Activision community manager Dan Amrich confirmed the news on Twitter, speculating that Marvel is planning to consolidate its library as licensing agreements come to an end. A number of the games were recently discounted as part of festive sales and can still be purchased at retail.  It follows the recent removal of the Marvel vs Capcom games from PSN and Xbox Live. The crossover fighting games were pulled from sale at the tail-end of last year. Project Cars Dev. reveals 60 screenshots

Slightly Mad Studios have revealed about 60 new screenshots for its upcoming racing game Project Cars. They have showed some of the cars players will be able to used in various environments. “As usual, all shots show purely in-game footage that has not been made in any special photo mode, using no post-processing or filters that aren’t available during the actual gameplay,” the studio said. “What you see below is what you experience while driving!” We’ve heard of Slightly Mad Studios, as they’ve worked on Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed.
