This year’s E3 was lackluster, to say the least. Most of the games that were shown were games that were already announced before, either at E3 2016 or during the time leading up to E3 2017. Also, a lot of same games for different platforms or VR version of games were shown, heck even DLC was showcased at E3. People had high hopes from Sony this year after their amazing press conference last year but they fell short instead we saw Nintendo rise up. Nobody really expected Nintendo to have such a catalog of games to announce and the games they showcased were quite honestly, pretty damn good. So let’s talk about how Nintendo “won” E3 in 2017. Super Mario Odyssey was already announced with a little teaser that we had already seen. We were expecting more information about...
During the Nintendo Direct event focused around Fire Emblem, Nintendo announced a new surprise game for the 3DS. Called Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, the game seems to be a remake of or takes heavy inspiration from Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the series. Gaiden was launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992, but never saw a release outside Japan. The game also had some unique significant elements, which Nintendo says will be represented in the new title. Nintendo claims that Shadows of Valentia will include a world map you can navigate and 3D areas which you can wander around and explore. As far as character progression is concerned, it has been described as pretty “flexible”. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is set to release on 19t...
During the Direct livestream, Nintendo announced that they will bring their tactical RPG series Fire Emblem to smartphones with Fire Emblem Heroes. Playing as a summoner, you can “call upon Fire Emblem heroes throughout history,” including those from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates. The turn-based battles will take place in an 8 x 6 grid, designed to fit on smartphones. The game will feature the same weapon triangle signature to the series, with the ability to upgrade heroes and even call additional heroes for their armies. The game will also feature in-app purchases. Nintendo promises “free and timely updates” that will add new content and characters to the game. In addition to the story-based campaign, Heroes will include new modes as well: Sto...
Nintendo has announced that the next major title in their tactical RPG series Fire Emblem will be for the Switch, marking the return of the game to home consoles after almost a decade. The announcement was made at Fire Emblem Direct, and doesn’t give a whole lot of information about the game. What it does tell us, though, is that the new game will have yet another full scale war, and will be a true home console experience at heart. After the Switch’s lukewarm reception, thanks to the underwhelming line-up of launch titles, this provides some solace, at least to the fans of Fire Emblem franchise. The game is said to release sometime in 2018. Register with us for the best in gaming, and join us for video game discussions on our forums.
