Assassin’s Creed: Origins – Discovery Tour Shows a Different Side of Ancient Egypt With Discovery Tour, Assassin’s Creed Origins is using the concept of the Animus Database – long one of the most fascinating parts of the series – as a springboard for an entirely new kind of experience. Where the Database was a collection of educational (and frequently snarky) notes on the important people, places, and events that you encounter in each game, Discovery Tour adds an entirely new game mode that turns the massive re-creation of Egypt into a combat-free living museum, with guided tours that let players delve into its history firsthand. “This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, that we’ve been asked to do by teachers, by institutions,” says Jean Guesdon, creative director for Assassi...

In an interview with Play magazine, Ashraf Ismail, the game director for Assassin’s Creed Origins has revealed new information about how the AI behaves and functions in the upcoming game. There will be thousands of NPCs, all of whom have their own daily life cycles and go about it even when the player is not looking. This leads to dynamic and realistic behavior patterns, and some interesting emergent gameplay. “We created a new AI framework that actually allows us to have thousands of persistent people living in this world,” Ismail explains, noting that all of the AI – all of the human and animal NPCs that inhabit the sprawling Egyptian space – are “virtualised”. That is to say, they function away from the immediate gaze of the player. “NPCs actually have a life out in the world,” wh...

Say what you will about Ubisoft and the recent Assassin’s Creed titles, people are still excited about the next game. And for the right reasons as well, cause right now the game looks quite interesting. And some new, enticing footage has emerged, that could very well be out first look at the melee combat. The melee combat looks a lot more action packed and hands-on as compared to the older titles. Movement seems fluid and switching between melee and ranged looks quite smooth as well. More than the combat, I’m interested in what’s happening in the backround in the one below. It really shows the scale of the game world and needless to say, looks quite impressive. Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to release for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 27th October,...
Ubisoft is promising a truly unique Assassin’s Creed experience this time around, that are saying that the way they’ve designed the game, “no two people will have the same experience – it’s just not possible.” Claiming that the year off has given them additional time to tweak the experience and make it more unique for every player. Speaking to PC gamer, the Game Director, Jean Guedson said the following: When we started the game three-and-a-half years ago, we wanted it to be global, to be full, so this is why we aim for a fully seamless entire country now. We touched a bit on that with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, this sense of massive scale and total freedom, and we wanted to bring that on land, for the very first time, with an entire country. This extra year r...
Ubisoft has revealed a new 19-minute gameplay video of a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Origins running on Xbox One X. The new side mission looks really interesting, with various stages to it and meaningful objectives. It’s good to see Ubisoft toning down on random fetch quests and repetitive mission design, and I hope that this remains true for the rest of the game. Assassin’s Creed Origins is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27. Register with us for the best in gaming, and join us for video game discussions on our forums.

We have more details about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins game and it seems to be mechanically different to the previous games in terms of combat and exploration. Gameinformer had the chance to visit the studio in Montreal and got the chance to speak with game director Ashraf Ismail. They spoke about various things about the game but there were a few things that stood out. -The way they changed the game engine, in general, is that it’s less driven by animation.
