Gamers Who Paid For Assassin’s Creed: Origins Are Being Treated Like Pirates?

Assassin’s Creed: Origins has been out for a good while, and we have been having an absolute blast with it. However, if you’re a PC user, especially with an AMD GPU, then the story might be significantly different. Here’s what a user posted on the Ubisoft Blog, along with hundreds of others discussing how Ubisoft’s stubborn use of Denuvo DRM, lack of support, and no refund policy has left them with a terrible experience. So a little while ago Assassins Creed Origins came out. A lot of people who play AC games are obviously excited, myself included. Since Black Flag I haven’t been into AC as much as I used to be, but I was really looking forward to playing this new game. Especially since I love Egypt and really wanted to explore the open world. The minimum requ...

Does Assassin’s Creed: Origins Mark The End Of Piracy?

This year had seen a drastic increase in piracy with every major game being cracked within days, if not hours. However, there’s one game that has been deviously elusive – Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Protected by the latest version of Denuvo and then with VMProtect on top of it, Assassin’s Creed: Origins has turned out to be a tough game to crack. Ever since then, every other major release has remained uncracked. This same version of Denuvo is also being used to protect Sonic Forces, Injustice 2, Football Manager 2018, Need For Speed Payback and Star Wars Battlefront 2. As of writing this article, none of these games have been cracked. After the beating they took earlier this year, it seems like Denuvo has finally stepped up their game. Does this mark the end of pirac...

Assassin’s Creed: Origins Has Four Layers Of DRM Protecting It, Don’t Expect A Crack Anytime Soon

Ubisoft has been known to be notorious with DRM before, but they’re taking it to a whole new level with Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Assassin’s Creed is probably the biggest franchise Ubisoft owns right now, and with Origin’s focus on single player, Ubisoft is trying their best to stop the game from getting pirated. How do they do that? Add a total of 4 layers of protection on the game. Here’s how it works: First off they have Denuvo protecting the game. But Denuvo had failed with almost every AAA title released this year. So they added the notorious VMProtect DRM, which is significantly harder to crack, and is the main reason why the game’s performance is tanking on PCs. Then they have UPlay’s DRM layered on top, and then Steam’s own DRM. That...

Anti-Piracy DRM Causing Assassin’s Creed Origins Performance Issues On PC

Ubisoft’s latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise looks amazing, but according to the internet, it suffers from a massive performance issue: high CPU usage. Users have been complaining on Steam forums, saying that CPU usage goes as high as 100% while playing the game, causing frame drops and stuttering. “It really doesn’t seem to matter what kind of GPU you are using,” one player complained. “The performance issues most people here are complaining about are tied to CPU getting maxed out 100 percent at all times. This results in FPS [frames per second] drops and stutter. As far as I know there is no workaround.” According to Volksi, whose team was behind the Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus crack, the performance hit is because of the dual DRM implemented in Assassin&#...

Here’s Why They Haven’t Cracked Assassin’s Creed: Origins Yet

Pirates have been eyeing Assassin’s Creed: Origins over the last few days, but the game has yet to be cracked. Assassin’s Creed: Origins has been sitting on torrent sites since days before release, but a crack is not yet available, and we now know the reason why. Ubisoft has been using two layers of protection for this game – Denuvo and their own UPlay DRM. While both UPlay and Denuvo have been bypassed previously, what’s causing the delay this time around is the version of Denuvo that being used, and the addition of VMProtect over it. As popular hacker, Voski, explains: “VMProtect is software that protects other software against reverse engineering and cracking. Although the technicalities are different, its aims appear to be somewhat similar to Denuvo, in th...

Assassin’s Creed: Origins Already Makes Its Way To Torrents, Waiting To Be Cracked

The last few months have seen a big jump in piracy among AAA games. Where previously games like FIFA would takes years to get cracked and pirated across torrent sites, lately most AAA games are being cracked within days if not hours of launch. Denuvo’s effectiveness has been brought into question multiple times. Things have gotten so dire that Bethesda actually dropped Denuvo from The Evil Within 2 just a few days before launch. Right now, Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ game files have already been uploaded to torrent sites, waiting to be cracked. This is definitely bad news for developers and publishers, and the industry at large. It had seemed like piracy had been on a decline back in 2014-16, but this year it looks like it’s back in full swing. This also comes amidst...
