The Excelance runs on Windows 10. Powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F processor (quad core, 2MB L2 cache, 1.33GHz base clock, 1.83GHz Burst clock) paired with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, it forms a decent work device. It has a VGA (0.3-megapixel) webcam and 32GB of internal storage. The storage is further expandable via microSD card slot (up to 64GB).
The Compbook also packs a battery with 10000 MAh capacity. iBall claims that the laptop has a battery life of 8.5 hours of usage, 31 hours of standby, 25 hours of music playback and 8.5 hours of video playback. The laptop dons dual speakers at the back, and provides basic connectivity like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a mini HDMI port, and two USB 2.0 ports.
Talking about the build quality of the Excelance, it feels a little too light on the hands, with a lot of plastic. But that can’t be a point of complaint when you’re getting a laptop at the price tag of INR 10k. The touchpad has multi-touch functionalities, but it feels a little shaky, and is not very responsive upon use. The keyboard, on the other hand feels somewhat better, but seems to have some issue with the spacebar key at times.
The best thing about the laptop is perhaps the fact that it’s a budget laptop that gets your work done. Obviously, you won’t be playing games on it, but for making word docs or presentations or browsing the internet on-the-go, this thing might come in handy. It is extremely portable, meaning you can carry it with you however and wherever you like. With a small form factor and weight of just about a kilogram, you will not have a problem in fitting this device in your backpack as you go about doing your work.
Agreed, the laptop doesn’t feel very amazing to look at or to use, but let’s not forget, it’s not made for heavy usage. And it gets your work done without straining your wallet at all.
