Here’s Why We May Not Get To See GTA 6 Anytime Soon

“When is GTA 6 going to come out?” is a frequent question amongst the fans of Rockstar’s incredible GTA series. And while it’s been almost 4 years since the last major title was released, there seems to be no news regarding the next iteration.

For anyone wondering why there’s no GTA 6 on the horizon, the reason is quite simple, really. GTA V is still in the top charts, years after its release, and a good deal of that has to do with its online component. Before the game’s release, here’s what former Rockstar President Leslie Benzies had to say in an interview with GameSpot:

”We want it to grow into its own world. We want it to be its own master. We can bolt things and add things and change things in the online world–because it’s separate–that we maybe couldn’t have done if it was tied in more closely with the single-player. It gives us freedom to do what we want to do. We have a lot of plans for it in the future, and this breaks it off so we can take it anywhere.”

GTA Online might have faced issues at launch, but its success over the years has been staggering. And Benzies made the above statement before all that. And with the amount of content that the game gets at regular intervals, it’s clear that Rockstar isn’t going to push for the next major GTA game for a while. Honestly, it’s possible that we may get to see a whole new area added to GTA Online before we hear talks about GTA 6. And no matter how much of a cash grab it may seem, Rockstar and Take-Two don’t really have a reason to release a new GTA game till the time the present one dies.
