Good News! You Don’t Need To Buy Infinite Warfare To Play MW Remastered

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is presently being promoted as only being available as a pre-order bonus for the upcoming FPS Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

As it turns out, you will in fact be able to purchase it separately. Here’s what Director Raven David Pellas’ statement says, talking about the additional 6 multiplayer maps to be released for the game post-launch, according to NeoGAF:

“What we announced before today was that we were going to offer 10 maps on launch, and that’s still true. The announcement today is that the six remaining maps we are actually going to be delivering to anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, anyone who owns it or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, they’re going to get all 16 of the maps for no additional cost.”

As you can read, the maps will be available to players who own a copy of MW Remastered OR the version that comes with Infinite Warfare, meaning that it is indeed possible to own the game without buying the other one. Note that Call of Duty has followed the same trend before, where you can secure extra content by paying extra when you pre-order your game, only to see it released for everyone 4-5 months later.

However, don’t expect this release to be available for purchase right away. It’ll probably be at least 2-4 months following the release of Infinite Warfare before Infinity Ward makes it available for the public so the fans who have pre-ordered the games do not feel unfairly treated.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to release for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 4th November 2016.
