Fans were disappointed when EA and DICE announced that at the time of release, Battlefield 1 will only feature Britain, Germany, the United States, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Italy and the Ottomans. However, players predicted that the French will be added through DLCs, and it seems they were correct.
They Shall Not Pass, the expansion planned for release in early March 2017 will introduce the French armies. Also, the official Battlefield 1 Season Pass official product page says that “an upcoming expansion will bring the Russian Empire into the battle.”
With a price tag of $49.99, the Season Pass adds new Operations, Elite classes, game modes, vehicles, 16 multiplayer maps, 20 games, 14 dog tags and 14 Battlepacks. These will become available post-release on a monthly basis starting November.
Owners of the Season Pass also get early access to the multiplayer maps, which include the They Shall Not Pass DLC, and three more which as of yet are unannounced. “Scout ahead with a two-week head start on four themed expansion packs,” the description says. “And France joins the fight in all new multiplayer maps. An upcoming expansion will bring the Russian Empire into the battle.”
Battlefield 1 is set to release on 21 October on the Xbox One, PS 4 and PC. The open beta shall begin on 31 August.
