We’ve seen a lot of gaming laptops over the past year, both entry level and high end, but we haven’t come across one that caters specifically to people who love playing MOBAs, like DOTA 2. Thanks to the new Strix Hero Edition notebook, that’s about to change. Let’s take a look at what we have with us today, shall we? Specs Processor Intel Core i7 7700HQ RAM 16GB DDR4 RAM Graphics Card GTX 1060 6GB Display 15.6-inch Full HD IPS Storage 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD Ports USB 3.0, USB Type-C, 3.5mm jack, SD Card Reader, LAN, HDMI, MiniDP The ASUS ROG Strix Hero Edition comes with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ Kaby Lake processor along with a GTX 1060 inside, accompanied by 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The launch of OnePlus 5T in November was a little unexpected for everyone, considering that the company had released the OnePlus 5 just a few months before. Though in India you can still find the OnePlus 5 to buy, outside the 5T is replacing the predecessor completely. So, what’s new? Take everything you loved about the OnePlus 5, and add to that smaller bezels, an 18:9 display and a (very) slightly improved secondary camera. The OnePlus 5T immediately became my favourite phone from 2017 and I actually ended up buying the Star Wars Edition. Not only is it one of the best phones available in the market specs-wise, the competitive pricing just makes it irresistible. Here are the five things we love the most about this phone: 1. Design The OnePlus 5T follows the same curved body design ...
Much to everyone’s surprise, NVIDIA recently decided to treat the GTX 1070 with the “Ti” edition. It wasn’t expected as the only high card to get a Ti version in the past has been the 980Ti, but with the 10-series we now have a GTX 1080Ti and the GTX 1070Ti. We have already reviewed the GTX 1080Ti in earlier, so today we test the 1070Ti. CUDA Cores 2432 Base Clock 1607 Boost Clock 1683 VRAM 8GB GDDR5 TDP 180W The GTX 1070Ti brings raises the roof on the CUDA core count, featuring 2432 cores compared to the 1070’s 1920 cores. The GTX 1080 on the other hand, has 2560 CUDA cores. The card looks the same as any other GTX 10-series Founder’s Edition card, so there’s not much to talk about on the design front. It uses the conventional vapour chamber cool...
Not so long ago, we reviewed the HyperX Alloy FPS mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches. While the keyboard was impressive, it did lack in a few areas. Today we check out the HyperX Alloy Elite, which keeps all the great features of the Alloy and then some. Let’s dive right in, shall we? The HyperX Alloy Elite has the same frameless, compact design like that of the Alloy FPS, but it adds dedicated media buttons and backlight controls. You can change the pattern of backlight or switch it on/off at the press of a button, and there are separate play, pause, next and back buttons along with a handy volume slider. Between the top panel and the keys is a light bar which looks incredible, providing the entire keyboard with quite a classy look. There’s also a removable palm ...
Recently, we took a look at HyperX’s debut keyboard (and then another one). The company may be known more for headsets and memory sticks, but we were quite impressed their no-nonsense approach towards gaming keyboards. Today we have with us their debut gaming mouse, the Pulsefire FPS. Let’s find out how it fares, shall we? At the first glance, you’ll find that the HyperX Pulsefire FPS bears a close resemblance to Razer’s DeathAdder. Once you get close, there are some differences, but they look more or less similar. It’s a simple mouse with the usual set of buttons; the left click, right click, mouse wheel, two thumb buttons on the side and one just behind the mouse wheel to switch DPI between presets. On both sides you can find rubber grips with a cross textur...

The Vega GPUs were finally released last year after a long wait and a lot of anticipation. With the whole world watching, a lot was riding on the shoulders of the new graphics cards as the RX 400/500 series didn’t really have a contender in the high-end segment. Today we check out the stock air-cooled Vega 64. Let’s see how good it is, shall we? Specifications Stream Processors 4096 Texture Units 256 Base Clock 1247 MHz Boost Clock 1546 MHz VRAM 8GB TDP 295W The Vega 64 comes with 4096 stream processors and 256 texture units. The card comes in a liquid cooled variant as well. You can refer to the table b...

When I first heard about the upcoming game, Black Mirror, I assumed it was based on the popular show of the same name. However, it’s not that at all, instead it’s inspired by the Black Mirror trilogy of point and click adventure games released back in 2003. And it’s actually pretty good. It’s part horror, part mystery, and is laden heavily with gothic atmosphere that will easily suck you in. You play as David Gordon, who returns to his ancestral home in Scotland after the death of his father. There’s something amiss about the place, and the events surrounding the family home, and it’s on you to uncover these secrets. Inspirations from Poe and Lovecraft are immediately noticeable, especially in the writing, tone and the setting. There’s slow exposition, all of which reveals a compelling plo...
When I think of 2016’s Doom, I think fast movement and absolutely visceral action. And translating that to VR is no easy task. VR doesn’t usually go well with fast movement, and in your face action might actually be a recipe for nausea. However, Doom VFR is an incredible mix of everything that made the latest Doom great, giving story context to the VR setting and making excellent use of the platform. Hell has never looked slicker, hotter or bloodier in VR as is does in Doom VFR. The shift to VR definitely comes at the cost of noticeable visual fidelity, especially on the PS4 where some pop-in can be distracting. However, this is still one of the best looking VR games you will play across platforms. The custom built levels are brilliantly designed keeping in mind the limitations of the hard...
