With the Xbox One X’s launch just around the corner, there’s one big question that’s being asked by potential customers – “Where are the games?” The lack of big first-party exclusives has been haunting the Xbox One since its release, and Playstation 4’s 2017 lineup only makes it worse. Sony has been bringing out big hits like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, and it’s clear that they are absolutely dominating the market right now. And Playstation’s Global Sales Head Jim Ryan seems to have a similar idea. Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Jim Ryan said: Specs are interesting but that’s all they are: specifications. The proof is in how the games look – and which games they are. You saw last night, there ...
The closure of Lionhead Studios, the creators behind the famous (and my personal favourite) Fable series, brought dismay to the hearts of gamers alike. Microsoft shut down the studio earlier in 2016 when it was on the verge of releasing Fable Legends, an action RPG where you could play as the hero or the villain. It does not seem likely that there would be another mainline Fable title in the future. Although a digital card game known as Fable Fortune was released, it wasn’t made by Lionhead Studios. If Microsoft were to bring it back, that would please Xbox boss Shannon Loftis, who heads up Xbox’s first-party publishing team. “Fable is very near and dear to my heart,” Loftis said. “Actually one of the primary reasons [I moved to England] was to work with the t...

Avil is the last-remaining Sentinel and only he has the power to save humankind. Iron Galaxy presents a brand-new gameplay trailer for their upcoming action-adventure game – Extinction. Extinction places emphasis on high-speed traversal around an interactive environment. Avil must move quickly – traversing across rooftops, alongside buildings, atop man-made structures and more – to save humanity from the encroaching horde, and take down the seemingly endless waves of Ravenii using his powers as a trained Sentinel. And while the swarm of smaller minions may seem like the crisis at hand, there’s always a larger problem on the horizon. Armies of ogres are equipped with their own weapons and armour, requiring Avil to use tactical thinking, the structure of the environment, and even the enemies...
In what might be a series first, Assassin’s Creed Origins pushed me to use all of the tactics at my disposal, without any prodding from the story or mission guidelines. This happened during my latest hands-on session with the game (set in the Nile Delta and Giza Plateau), somewhere around my fourth attempt to free Ghupa, an old man caged at the center of a hilltop camp. Ghupa had been kidnapped after asking too many questions about a shadowy villain known as the Scarab, a member of the mysterious Order of the Ancients whose preferred method of killing involved burying people up to their necks in the desert and leaving them to die. This fate hadn’t yet befallen Ghupa, but for now he was surrounded by a generous handful of guards – all of whom, being several levels above me, could annihilate...
