An awful lot of the biggest games coming out this year are either RPGs or action adventures, which is fine unless you’re the kind of person I am and just cannot survive without killing mooks with things that go BAM! or BOOSH! for the rush of Adrenaline you get after fighting through hordes of enemies evenly matched to you. Fortunately for us, shooter season 2015 is right around the corner! Let’s have a look at the homocidal toys Santa has in store for good little murder happy boys and girls: Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One) Halo 5 is the fifth game in the Master Chief saga and 7th or 8th (depending on whether you count ODST or not) title under the Halo series. Halo 5 features a new protagonist, Agent Locke, who debuted in Nightfall and the Master Chief Collection, and promises an i...
Kojima Production is new to the whole multi-platform game thing this generation, but they are trying so very hard to nail PC ports. The Ground Zeroes port was exceptional and ran so well that even mid range PCs maxed it out without breaking a sweat. Now Kojima Productions has taken to Steam forums for user feedback on further improving their PC port. Robert Peeler, MGS’s Community manager, asked for advice on Steam forums for more PC specific features and options. The thread is here and still active at the time of writing, so if you have a specific request, knock yourself out.
And in the latest chapter of the ongoing Arkham Knight PC fiasco, Rocksteady’s Sefton Hill assured affected PC gamers that Rocksteady’s “Best engineers are working like crazy” to fix the issues with the much maligned PC port of the game. WB has already taken the game off of store shelves and apologised about the disastrous PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight, and is offering refunds to affected fans. Meanwhile , Eurogamer reported that Nvidia is also working on fixing the game, as it is a Gameworks title and was bundled with their GTX 980s and 970s along with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Treyarch teased the inevitable Zombies DLC on it’s twitter. From the teaser image, it appears that they will unveil it at the San Diego Comic Con 2015. The DLC will be a timed exclusive on the PS4, as Activision and Sony announced at E3. For more news, stay tuned to Gaming Central
DICE teased us with footage from the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront sequel. It was the same map as the E3 demo (Tattoine). It’s only a 30 second teaser, and is the first PC footage of the game. In a rather generous and consumer friendly turn of events, Rocksteady apologised for the much maligned sub-par PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight and recommended players t claim a refund from Steam. Green Man Gaming also started giving out refunds. At first, WB simply re-released the system requirements and asked fans to wait for the patch. The post can be found here. It advised players to: Bump down the resolution to 720p To turn all settings down to Low To disable Nvidia Gameworks features And to not tweak the .ini files to unlock the framerate and other options which were not in the in-game menu It also gave out some outlandish minimum system requirements for a game running at 720p and on Low. The Minimum card was a GTX 660 with 3GBs of VRAM, the Recommended card was a 770 (Again a 3GB va...
Console Exclusivity no longer seems to include PCs nowadays. While this might feel shady, and let’s face it, the games are exclusive to a console only because Microsoft or Sony ‘motivated’ the developers, so it’s not exactly gold standard practices, this means that PC gamers now get the windfall in terms of exclusive content. Let’s have a look at the upcoming no-longer-exclusives, shall we? Street Fighter V One of the world’s most played fighting games, Street Fighter V will not be coming to Xbox One. Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the PS4 will be the only console that will have SFV, with emphasis on console, as it also comes to PC. And since Microsoft announced that Killer Instinct is also being ported over to PC, it kinda makes PC the mos...
Batman Arkham Knight is not enjoying a good launch on the PC. In fact, the launch is so bad, it puts to mind the launches of Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Aliens: Colonial Marines. The game uses the notorious DRM Denuvo (on top of Steam) and appears to be horribly unoptimised, with people reporting that not even a 980Ti can maintain playable framerates on even High, with numerous issues with SLI and Crossfire support (Crossfire is disabled in AMD’s Game Ready Driver, and SLI actually reduces framerate with Nvidia). Reports of stuttering and audio glitches are also numerous. There also appears to be a memory leak in the game, which causes the application to bloat to about 15GBs on RAM before crashing. It’s also locked to 30FPS. And AMD cards are even worse off, as even the o...
