E3 Diary: EA – Sports and Stuff

EA’s lineup this year was, what’s the word I’m looking for here? Yes, Anaemic. Besides announcing Mass Effect Andromeda and giving a few new details about Battlefront 3 and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, all they had were annual sports games and a small puzzle platformer. And they were trying to sell EA Access hard. Also, PvZ Garden Warfare 2 featured heavily in the whole of E3. Lets have a closer look, shall we? Mirror’s Edge Catalyst   Mirror’s Edge Catalyst got featured in a big way this year, with lots of interesting new details and tidbits revealed. First off, it went open world. Secondly, all gun combat was removed. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will launch on Feb. 23, 2016, as announced today at EA’s press event at E3. Mass Effect: Andromeda Th...

E3 Diary: Ubisoft

Ubisoft’s E3 conference, hosted by Aisha Tyler again, was full of surprises and moments of levity, like Trey Parker and Matt Stone appeared to announce a new South Park game, but ended up bitching about the mic and flirting with Aisha Tyler instead, or Jason Derulo came up on stage to announce Just Dance 2016 with a dance number. It was a good show, but before we dive into major announcements, First things first, no, Beyond Good and Evil 2 was still not shown. South Park: Fractured But Whole South Park: The Stick of Truth is getting a sequel called South Park: Fractured But Whole (Say it out loud and chuckle), in which you explore the new kid’s butthole… I swear it’s not how it sounds. Also, they’re superheroes now. It’s being developed in-house a...

E3 Diary: Clash of the Titans Pt. 2 (Microsoft)

Microsoft dominated the floor with their show today, announcing not only games for Xbox One, but also for the Hololens and Windows 10. A healthy mix of not only new games, but also new features for the Xbox One was announced at the show. The most surprising and welcome of these announcements was Backwards Compatibility with Xbox 360 games. It works not only with titles on the XBL Marketplace, but also with retail discs. You can check compatible games here (PDF Document). XCOM 2 Announced

XCOM 2 has been confirmed as a PC exclusive title by developer Firaxis as a sequel to 2012’s smash hit, XCOM Enemy Unknown, which breathed life back into the decades old franchise. The story is set in near future to Enemy Unknown, where the alien invasion was a success. Players reprise their role as the commander, but the twist is they have to use guerrilla tactics against an enemy who has already won, so to speak

Dark Souls III Details Leaked

An image has been leaked online by IGN, presumably from From Software’s E3 ensemble, suggesting an early 2016 release for Dark Souls III. This follows rumours circulating in the industry, which pegged a release window of 2016-2017 for DSIII. This title follows the immensely successful Bloodborne, a PS4 exclusive, which happened to be a system seller for Sony. Xbox Updates: Controller, New Model and More

Microsoft will be offering a new model of the Xbox One, with a 1TB Hard Disk Drive and a matte finish, as opposed to the glossy finish it sells with now, which is an atrocious fingerprint and dust magnet. Unlike the PS4, the Xbox One does not allow users to replace the HDD themselves without voiding the warranty. This new console will be bundled with Halo: Master Chief Collection for a limited period. Microsoft also announced  a controller redesign, which tweaks the bumpers slightly and removes the proprietary headset jack and replaces it with a 3.5mm jack. In addition, they also released a special edition Covert Forces controller, which has a grey camouflage finished shell. Microsoft also released the long awaited wireless dongle for coupling the Xbox One controller with a PC, which befor...

Nvidia VR Headset Discovered Among Filed Patents

Latest reports suggest NVIDIA is ready to throw down the gauntlet to Oculus and HTC. Declassifiled has discovered a patent for a VR Headset filed by Nvidia on June 3. What sets it apart from other VR Headsets is it’s noticeably small size, and three included sets of cameras. We speculate this is for integrating motion recognition, as it’s touted to have “sub millimetre movement resolution”, which means it will be able to recognise even minute twitching. It will come with a “High end processor”, which we expect to be the new Tegra K1 chip, which will be powering everything from cars to microwaves in the near future. There is also a network adapter module on there. So… future Nvidia GRID candidate? Who knows!
