Well, if you thought that your games were safe from the grasp of GST, you were wrong. Looks like we’re going to see a price hike soon, starting with Call of Duty World War II and Destiny 2.

As reported by Gadgets 360, COD WWII will now cost INR 4499 on the PS4 and Xbox One, and INR 3799 on the PC. The original price for the game was announced as INR 4299 for the PS4 and Xbox One, and INR 3499 for the PC. The same goes for Destiny 2, with the revised price being INR 4499 on the consoles and INR 3799 on the PC, compared to the previous cost of INR 4299 on the PS4 and Xbox One, and INR 3499 on PC.
The prices have been updated on the online store GamesTheShop, while Amazon still shows the original price. The cause for the price hike is being attributed to GST, the revised tax scheme introduced by the Govt. this month. Other publishers haven’t indicated any increase in the prices yet, but if GST is the reason for the hike, it’s safe to assume that they will soon follow suit. Earlier this year too, we saw an increase in the prices of games on Steam, especially Ubisoft titles, with some of them going up to a 100% price hike. Brace yourselves folks, you may have to keep a bigger cut of your money for your favourite hobby.
