We’ve already seen some hints in the past that suggest that Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed titles are set in the same fictional world. And an easter egg in Assassin’s Creed Origins only seems to provide more proof for this theory.
Like every Assassin’s Creed title, Origins also has modern day segments. The first time you play in the modern times, you’re introduced to Layla Hassan, who is spending her time in the Animus experiencing the game. She has a laptop filled with emails and documents about people related to the games’ plot, who may have died. One of these people is Olivier Garneau, the chief creative officer of Abstergo Entertainment, the same company in whose offices Assassin’s Creed IV was set. In that game, we discovered that Garneau took trips to Chicago (where Watch Dogs is based) and Blume, the evil corporation from the first title is also a part of the Assassin’s Creed world. The files on the laptop indicate that Garneau dies in Chicago, along with surveillance footage of him being shot.
Any idea who that guy in trenchoat, holding the gun is? He sure does look like Aiden Pierce, the hacking protagonist from Watch Dogs. Not only does this provide proof that Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed are set in the same universe, it also suggests that Aiden Pierce might have been doing Assassin work behind the scenes. Does this mean Aiden was an Assassin as well? Let us know what you think in the comments.
