Video games have become an essential part of our lives, and for me personally, it goes way beyond casual entertainment. Apart from being an essential means of unwinding after a long day at work, multiplayer games often help me socialize with friends online. Some online sessions have me in scenarios where team play is essential, and encourages planning and applying complex strategies in order to win. Other have you going at it solo and coming up with quick solutions to sticky situations.

That’s not to say that Video Games are the best thing ever since sliced bread. There are definite detriments to playing games over long periods of time, and can lead to some seriously unhealthy habits. And Video Game addiction is a real thing.
But what would life be like without video games?
Well, I thought about it, and here’s how it might be:
- More Productivity – Sounds likely, since we’ll be spending more time in getting some real work done, instead of sitting around playing games. I know for sure that my girlfriend would be happier (if I had one)..
- More Social – Yep, definitely. Instead of spending weekends playing raids in Destiny, I might actually go out more and meet friends.
- Get A Girlfriend – I’m really not sure if Video Games are the reason I don’t have one yet..
- Probably Worse At Problem Solving – I can confidently say that Video Games have helped me get better at solving problems in real life.
- Living A Healthier Life – Say goodbye to fries and coke, while waiting for GTA V Online to load.
- Or Doing Drugs – I’m not sure I’d be heading to the gym even without Video Games.
- Different And More Boring Career – I wouldn’t be writing this article right now.
- Reading A Lot More Books – It’s better than convincing myself that Skyrim has great lore.
- Wasting Time On The Internet – Yeah, definitely a lot more 9GAG and Reddit.
- Be Rich – No more buying overpriced GPUs or DLC infested Video Games.
- Or Jobless – I’m not sure that engineering degree was really taking me places
