The wait is over. The release date for Injustice 2 has been officially revealed by NetherRealm Studios via Twitter.

The sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 is developed by NetherRealm Studios, the same people behind Mortal Kombat X. It expands on the roster from the first game, featuring new and returning heroes and villains. New playable characters include Deadshot, Blue Beetle, Gorilla Grodd, Supergirl and Harley Quinn. It will introduce a new “Gear System”, which allows players to earn status-altering equipment and cosmetic items. It enables the players to customize, loot and level up, adding a whole new layer to the fighting genre.
Injustice 2 is set to release for the Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android on 16th May. It is likely to pick up where the first title left off, as members of the Justice League attempt to reform society under the shadows of another threat to their existence.
