PlayStation VR Coming To PC?

In the latest news, Sony may bring its PlayStation VR to PC. According to Nikkei, Sony Computer Entertainment executive vice president Masayasu Ito told the Japanese publication that the company is thinking of making the PS VR headset, which is coming out this October, compatible with the PC’s later in its lifespan.

Currently the PlayStation VR requires a PlayStation 4 to operate, while the console shares similar “internal parts” to a PC, Ito said, according to a translation by Reddit user named MSDefenseForce.

While Sony might be exploring the possibility of future PC functionality, they are currently focused on developing games for the new platform.

Ito later told Nikkei that Sony is planning on shipping more than 2 million PlayStation VR units this year. Since the headset will release this fall as opposed to the first half of the year, as it was initially planned, he said, in order to accommodate the “greater than initially anticipated” which will be the worldwide demand.

The PlayStation VR will cost $399 at launch. That price doesn’t include the required PlayStation Camera peripheral. which is used for positional tracking. All this included is still cheaper than other VR headsets in the market. A $500 bundle including both devices and other accessories went up for pre-order last week.

We have yet to see a price for the Indian market and if older traditions are to be remembered, it will be long till we see some news for us.
