2016’s Battlefield To Go Back To Military-Style Roots

As most of you know, a 2016 Battlefield game was announced last month and the franchise plans to return to their military focused root which is what the series is best known for quite unlike the cops-and-robbers Battlefield Hardline.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen made the comment today during the 2014 UBS Global Technology Conference. He said he has already seen the game and it is shaping up to be a “fun, new Battlefield. That will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that,” he said.

As far as annualizing the Battlefield series goes, EA CEO Andrew Wilson explained last month that, “We want to give Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline players more time to enjoy these games and immerse themselves in a game, the live service, and the community.”

The next core Battlefield game is March 2015’s Battlefield Hardline. Even though there isn’t a new Battlefield title for holiday 2015, EA will have other releases like its new Star Wars: Battlefront game. Jorgensen said he recently saw the game and is excited about how it is shaping up.
