Video Games Are Better Stress-Busters Than Sex, According To Studies

At the end of a long hard day, we all have our own way of relaxing and chilling out. Some watch movies, other wash away their worries with liquor, while I like to powder my nose. I also like to play some Video Games, since there’s nothing more satisfying that hearing a 13 year old cry after I kill him for the 17th time in a row in Battlefield 1. Surprisingly enough, a lot of other people agree with me. Not the cocaine, of course, but Video Games!

A study by the University College London surveyed 251 men and 240 women, to find out their preferred modes of unwinding. While some of them said they liked to talk with friends, or comfort eating, a third of the men opted for Video Games as the perfect stress-busters! Only 27% of them chose sex, or watching porn as a way to let off steam.

The women also went for similar options, with only 11% of them resorting to sex to relieve some stress. Some of them even said they liked to read, so if you’re one of them reading this right now, why not go play some Video Games.

The study concluded by saying that gamers “were found to have an overall lower need for recovery, lower negative work/home interference and had a more effective recovery experience, particularly in relation to the subscales of relaxation and psychological detachment, than non-gamers.”

Make Use Of also conducted a study in 2010 at Texas A&M University, which found that “both men and women who play violent video games long-term seem to be able to adopt mental skills to handle stress, become less depressed and get less hostile during stressful tasks.”

So, I guess we’re all going to die virgins now. At least we feel stress-free.
